488 488 GTB to Pista Conversion Kit

I've never seen the point of this wannabe conversions....

 

Not much. Looks like a typical loser wannabe arrangement. I think if you have no shame or dignity then go for it.

 

Spending that kind of money to upgrade the body isn't my thing. But I could see some value in putting a Pista engine in a 488 if my engine had failed.

 

If it's a well done kit for the right price and my car was your average Rosso Corsa 488, I'd be up for it. As long as it's not upbadged. Wouldn't really care if people called me a loser, not like I'd see any of them in the flesh anyways. I like the aesthetic of the Pista more than the standard 488 GTB. The limited special edition cars always look better than the standard cars.

 

Hate the fact that they call it a conversion kit. It does not convert a GTB to a Pista.

Dumb. Just sell your GTB and buy a Pista, they will hold value decently for sure. You know what won’t hold value? Fake Pista bodywork on a 488.

 

I think for the price I'd rather just have something like a Novitec kit or 1016 industries kit. Nothing too extreme like Liberty Walk. Gives the car its own flavor.

What's the point? The owner of the car will know it's not a Pista. It's like putting an M badge on a standard 3 series.

I like it. Just wouldn’t do it. Agree with the above. It will cost a pretty penny but won’t hold any value. If I were willing to body kit a 488 I’d go for Novitec or another well known one in the community that someone may appreciate later at resale. If I was in love with Pista styling then I’d trade the 488 in for an actual Pista and apply all the sunk time and money into the difference. You’re likely looking at an extra $150k on top of your 488 and what your spend to convert it. But I guarantee you it will maintain that value longterm.

 

looks fine and there's nothing wrong with it imo, it's an expensive car pretending to be a slightly more expensive car in terms of styling. it's not like a toyota mr2 bodykit prentending to be a ferrari

 

I just bought a fake Rolex and bought my wife a fake diamond and I think this would be the perfect car for me to drive to my appointment to have my hairpiece glued on after which Im going to pick up a fake Chanel purse for my wife.

No different than adding pista sideskirts or any aero as a purely cosmetic upgrade, but you uptight jabroneys will never understand the car culture.

 

I wouldn’t do it under any circumstances. That said, as a true car guy, I would respect anyone else’s mod preference.

 

Each to their own. Would I do it , NO. The Pista looks great IMO but in my eyes the 488GTB does also.
