Not trying to jump this thread but was wondering if there is a general consensus on either going for a colored roof or going for black roof to get some contrast? I am really torn between the two.
If you decide to go with red, you might want to consider having them painted in the same red as the car. Also, when I said black, I meant the gloss black, not the standard flat black.
I, er, ahem...chose yellow calipers for a Speciale. The body colour was a slightly darker red though. I must confess to being worried about them (I would have chosen red except the Corsa or Scuderia calipers would have clashed). I needn't have worried - I was delighted with them on delivery, not McDonalds at all and I'm glad I didn't settle for the black. However, in your case, I would probably go red because you have RC(M). Perhaps a bit boring though. Silver might be more interesting. Or stick with yellow because it looks good IMO (in the flesh much better than the renders). So, everything except black. But thinking about it black might also look quite good....
That's my first choice but I don't believe that's available/ option. Rosas Corrsa Metalizzato I think will clash will the other two Red options?
I bought a Speciale that had been ordered with gold calipers and do like the look. I might order a 488 GTB with the same. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I believe you could get them painted either via the Atalier or Tailor Made. And yes, I would definitely think they would clash if they were a different red. RC or RS calipers would, to me at least, stick out as some kind of mis-match. This is also why I'm not a fan of yellow calipers on yellow cars. They are different yellows.
I ordered gloss black on my Rosa Corsa Car. I think the shields add enough yellow. Interior is curio with black stitching. Black horses on the seats.
Its all just personal preference. I don't care for the yellow calipers on a red car. I would do either red or black. I personally can't stand silver calipers. To me the calipers are a sporty element of the car and its just fine to highlight them. Just not aluminum or silver- I can't explain why but I don't like how they look. Maybe its because I think they should be a painted color not just metal color. Who really knows- if you like the yellow go for it! (But personally I'd do red )
I like the yellow. It is a minor enough highlight that it does not look Mcdonalds to my eyes. Plus its surrounded by dark wheels / tires. Just like shields and standard center caps still work on a Corsa car.
Look at how Ferrari configured the new spider. Blue with silver calipers. 5 years ago it would have been yellow.
I struggled with this as well when I ordered my 458. I ended up going with the standard flat black caliper and I couldn't be happier. As someone had mentioned on Fchat before, the yellows are not the same, the calipers, shields and center caps are all a little off and once you see it you can't unsee it. I did love the yellow caliper on my red 430, but with the diamond rims of the 458 the yellow is a little to much in my opinion. The next car I order, I am going to order my calipers in the body color, unless it's red, then I will go with black again. Black just works with red, but it's just my opinion. Good luck with your decision.
Could it be that we are also not factoring in wheels? The newer wheels styles are more open looking in general. So with Challenge style wheels on say a 430, a color caliper is less visible than on the forged very think spoke wheel on a 458....
I have yellow callipers on my Rosso 458, looks great with dark wheels, yellow shields, etc, IMHO. I have gotten lots of compliments on the look.
Silver 488 with black roof and silver calipers looks also stunning )) Ferrari 488 GTB - 30 Juli 2015 - Autogespot
No wonder they give you options! everyone likes something different and has their own taste on what looks good to them. I would do yellow or gold. My 2 pennies worth
That color makes the 488 look so much more futuristic and modern than any other photos I have seen. I love my Speciale but have to admit my eye is wandering over to the 488 Spider. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
