can't believe I am typing this. I am given an allocation to get into the Huracan STO at msrp. I am very tempted but at the same time I don't know if I will regret. My grigio titanio is literally the very last year production in 2015, 12k miles now since, specced at 320k, and bullet proof so far, knock in wood. Always makes me smile. But the grigio titan matte for STO is just looking so exoticly attractive to my eyes.

To my fellow fchatter, I love to hear all your thoughts. I have no car to sit in yet. I am 6'3". If it's the same size as the performante coupe, I should be okay. Did anyone make the jump? Also the collectibility wise, if STO is their last NA car as well, I am telling myself that it's okay to swap. Am I delusional?

My wife is less impressed of the Urus twin turbo, so it appears her FF is safe.

Since you're having doubts, you should seriously consider giving me your 458 for safe keeping :)
But seriously the STO is a pretty special car. Tough choice.

do you have to sell the 458 to purchase the STO? Or is it feasible to get both? If i had to pick 1 I'd go STO.

really depends on how you use the cars. 458 is comfortable sports car that can be daily. sto will be an uncomfortable track machine. test out a performante and see how you like the ride. sto is supposedly stiffer still. good problem to have though. congrats

STO is quite comfortable with the sport seats. Ride is also surprisingly compliant.

Rearward visibility on the other hand…

Buy the STO, enjoy for six months and sell for a monster profit. Any opportunity to buy any SuperCar at MSRP in this market should not even be Given a second thought. It is a no brainer. You could probably even sell your allocation and make a ton of money

I am 6’2”, I fit fine without a helmet but could not do more than a couple laps with one on. You can verify fit with any other Huracan with the same seats you’d spec in the STO.

I had my STO for about a week. I liked it a lot, it sounded good as all Lambo V10s do. It would be comfortable as a street car, however rearward visibility is not good. I was disappointed the roof “intake” is all show. It’s a vent to nowhere in the engine compartment. If I could fit with a helmet, I’d still be nervous about any minor track incident with that giant cofango. Nicely spec’d the STO does look very cool.

I put an EVO RWD spider on order. Believe it or not, I could potentially get another STO sooner than an EVO RWD, such are the demand and allocations split.

Good luck. Both the 458 and STO are great. I’m not selling my 458. :)

    I guess I’m lucky, I have both.

The 458 is, as you are aware, a remarkable car, its strengths far outweigh my few complaints. Just a great all around car that can be both GT like and also impress under far more spirited conditions. Not withstanding the 458’s few weaknesses, they are two completely different cars.

I literally just took delivery of the STO last week, but it’s a more track focused, lighter, stiffer, more raw car. Better throttle response, more low down torque, and more confident brakes, and it feels a bit lighter in the rear, a bit more responsive. TBH I haven’t pushed it yet. No storage room if that’s important. Wife feels a bit claustrophobic in it, personally I like the feeling. I have the sport seats, super comfy and supportive and driver’s position is excellent. You should fit if you fit in the Perf. But be prepared for almost too much attention from the outside.

IMO the 458 still wins best all around and the sound competition as the STO valves don’t open until close to 5k RPM, and then it gets loud in a hurry.

If I were in position to secure an allocation, I’d be inclined to purchase in today’s market. There are lots of rumors that it could turn out to be more limited than originally planned due to production supply issues. If it means forgoing your 458, it’s a tough call.

I too ordered an Evo Spyder last week, passed on the STO based on the looks. For pure $ gain, get the STO of course.

Ideal situation is to have both. 458s will always be available. STOs will command a premium particularly among those who did not get an allotment. You might reach out to@Cadster in terms of cabin fit…..believe he is taller than you.

It largely depends on how your height is distributed. I am 6’6” 255lbs and I owned a Performante for 3.5 years, and while it was certainly a tight fit, I made it work, and I loved it. I have an inbound STO with Sport Seats (Jan 2022). I decided to move into a STO in large part due to the Sport Seat option. I sat for 20 minutes in the dealer car equipped with Sport Seats that made the rounds through the US, and was convinced that it provided about 2” of additional headroom versus the STO. Still tight, but much more breathing room. Last point on “fit” and “comfort”. Both of those terms are highly subjective. I think if someone wants something bad enough, they figure out how to make it work. The only car I own that is “comfortable” for my size is my 812, but I make the other cars work.

If I could only have one car, and was choosing between a 458 and a STO, I would choose the later. Both are iconic, end of era, ICE dinosaurs, but the STO will likely provide a heightened driving experience. Everything, especially acceleration and braking, will be turned up a notch, or two, compared to the 458.

great news. First, allow me to thank my fchat brothers sharing your wisdom, because it literally changed my wife's mind to let go of her FF to make room for the STO after she read your posts. As a result, I will be able to keep the 458! She will be driving the STO for sure as well as the hybrid cayenne in lieu of the FF. I for sure will miss the NA V12 sound especially its cold start.

I just placed my deposit and finished the spec with the SA. This is the exact spec I modeled after. Can't wait for it to arrive. I also ordered the sport seats for more room and my age.

Dude…. Should have kept the FF, love mine! Such a great family car and the V12 is sonorous.
My answer was, get a Speciale, trumps both IMO. I had the Perf and traded for the Speciale and am on my 3rd. Honestly would buy a 4th, but wife would divorce me.
Totally subjective, but the V10 Perf (I know it’s not STO but similar) was a beast with great growl, but driving experience was a bit digital and felt a bit kit car to me.
Speciale super lithe and playful, F1 sound (modded exhaust), and visceral.
I know it’s beaten to death so thankfully you’ll get both.
