I currently own a 2010 458. I think it is an exciting car as we all agree. The new 2015 Lamborghini Huracan just came out. I test drove it and it was so different than I thought. What are your thoughts on Lamborghini Huracan versus Ferrari 458?
I've got mine coming march 2015. The car definate needs the racing exhaust as its too quiet with the standard exhaust.
Also drove the Huracan at one of their factory track days at MSR Houston. The car stick to the road like glue vs my 458. But my 458 feels more nimble than the Huracan. Both cars has pros and cons. I also have one on order due in late April. Pricing net net is about the same except the build/delivery is quicker than Ferrari even at 8 cars per day from Lambo.
Will be interesting. Having a naturally aspirated engine (Huracan) vs the new Turbos in 458T. From a pricing perspective they seem equal (once Huracan starts to sell for under list). I understand looks are 100% subjective, but since the 458 design has been out so long, my vote without question would go Huracan...it's a stunner. Certain both cars have pros/cons which I would love to hear more about from those that actually own both. Certainly seems (based upon a ton of reviews) that Lambo is potentially a more DD than 458.
Huracan seemed so smooth and like the other reply said, it seemed too quiet. It wasn't jerky like my 458 on cruising at lower speeds. The 458 does have a sound that says, I'm coming and get out of my way. Huracan was even harder to get in and out of the car seat. But when you are in it, it feels more roomy than my 458.
I have one that I could buy today for $290k out the door. (tax/license all included) I just have to tell the dealer yes or no. Does the Lambo price drop faster than a Ferrari?
I am somewhat new to all of this. You mentioned that Huracan will start to sell under list, MSRP. I didn't realize this would happen. So if I buy it now for a full price, I will lose quite a bit of money in two years. How much? $80k?
I am a huge fan of the front end but the rear is not the prettiest... I dont like the sound too much since the cracks and burbles sound very synthetic. Interior has tons of plastic too.
IMHO, the Lambo, which is much improved from what I've heard, is a car in which to be seen, while the 458 is a car to drive.
Anyone's guess. But they are starting to sell (if you have a relationship with your dealer) for MSRP, which means next year as 2016's get closer you can probably grab one for 10-15% off (or about $27k). Depreciation on any super car is inevitable, so don't get one if you're worried about that. But yes, $60-80k is possible after two years on Huracan. There are 458's out there right now (2014's) that stickered around $300k going for $250k (so $50k in a year). Always buy right on the front side...but always expect a loss.
I don't think you lose $60-80k in 2 years like the troll stated. You can't use a 2014 458 as a comparison because that is not apples for apples since that car has a replacement coming out in a few months which is highly affecting their pricing. Huracan is the newest Lamborghini that is in high demand.
Just my opinion, just like you have one. Try and keep things civilized. Depreciation thread has been stated by other members here as 10% a year and $2-$3 per mile. That might vary with the 458 market softening somewhat. $300K car - 2 years at 10% (per year) is about $60k. Simple. Lambo will be the same when '16's start to hit.
Lambo will drop faster. Offered everywhere in SoCal, no prior purchase needed, no markup. When they fix the current car with 2wd and Superleggera offerings, the early model is going to experience quite a decay.
Have been at the lambo dealer with a friend. They offered us an allocation at msrp and 2 months delivery time...
I was at this event: Lamborghini Accademia at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca - Autoblog and drove the hell out of the Hurracan on track and Auto-X both me and my friend (mentioned in the article) left the event and bought new Ferraris. You can already pick up a used Hurracan below MSRP on the second hand market, that should tell you every thing you need to know.
The Huracan is starting to grow on me slowly. However...it's got a long, long way to depreciate still. Do the smart thing and buy a Speciale. You can drive it for a year or 2 with almost no depreciation, if not appreciation (last N/A V8 special model for a good while). If you like the new 388T then swap the Speciale at the dealer for one...
+1 IIRC the video said they sold 12k Gallardos in 12 years...that's about 1000/yr. if the second hand market is falling with that little production it really looks pretty bad. And at $237k that's already about $90k less than the MSRP on my 458 spider...not good.
I expect $40K+ depreciation after the second year. They are selling at MSRP will very little wait time and quite a few for sale already. Definitely not Ferrari USA-like demand.
I don't think so. There is a Mclaren dealer on the East Coast that has 5 for sale brand new '14 12c's. They will take $100k off...Huracan won't see that kind of depreciation in year one!
I will stay away from McLaren, stay away from Hurucan, unless someday I have nowhere to spend my money
