As part of their study of theft rates, the NHTSA publishes production numbers for some years of US Ferrari production. Here is what they had for the 458. latest numbers are from 2014. No figures on coupe/spider mix.

    2010 474
    2011 662
    2012 685
    2013 1239
    2014 1150

So 4210 458 model variants were sold in the US

It’s interesting to see how the numbers increase over the years.

I wonder how many car have been lost to accidents, fires, etc. Each year a small percentage of cars are lost.

So it seems that 458 total production will turn out to be a lot less than 430 ,and maybe even less than 360?

US sales have typically been around 28% of production lately, so for the years listed, total production can be inferred at ~15,000 for those 5 years.

Interesting indeed - maybe 2013 is the first full production year for the US spider, explaining the big number jump (the spider was unveiled end of 2011, and may have been more widely available in Europe before the US).

Thank you kindly for that data, Terry. Great post. I for one have been looking for accurate 458 production numbers for what seems forever.

Assuming your estimate is correct (which I very much believe it is - namely that US market accounts for 25 to 30% of total production), it validates my personal opinion: Maranello production capacity remained pretty much the same, with the California outselling the 458. If a given factory produces only two different models, production numbers of each will be higher. If the same factory has a limited capacity and now has to produce three models, in which one outsells the other by a fair margin, that will impact production numbers.

That said, with a mixture of hope and belief cemented on the data available so far, I'd say 15.000 458s across all variants seems plausible.

    Kind regards,

    Nuno.

So of the most recent small desirable Ferrari, production numbers approximately:

    15,000 458
    20,000 430
    17,000 360 (~7500 Spiders, ~8500 coupes)
    11,273 355 (3829 were berlinettas 3717 Spiders w/ ~2600 manual gearbox spiders) and 2048 GTS )
    13,241 308/8558 328
    3,569 Dinos

So Dinos are rare, but the 355 is really rare by modern Ferrari standards as well. There are a thousand more Dinos (GTS/B) than manual gearbox 355 spiders and even fewer GTS.

Someone asked about 2015 458 numbers, but NHTSA data stops at 2014.
