Just don’t know why you would tune, aside from running cat-deletes. Considered for a few minutes because I tuned my previous car but was quickly advised to let it be.

And if you’re running cat deletes, safest thing to do is just use a Capristo OBD Wizard and call it a day.

Don't do it for extra power, there isn't any. This is a high output NA engine, not a turbo where you can just up the boost and call it a day.

But I have it and would buy it again without hesitating.

Burbles. This was a big deal for me as I fell in love with that sound but bought a 2015.
Throttle is still quick but much smoother.
Much improved transitions to/from exhaust valves in all modes.
    Rev limit slightly higher.
Free dozen or so extra horses and maybe 1+ mpg. (least interesting part).

My car is more of less stock but if I ever want to mess with the exhaust system, the tablet comes with a custom tune and can clear any codes.

Yeah, I would go with the above post’s observations after putting a DME tune in my ‘13 spider. Worth it but no discernible power increase.

If you do a tune, be methodical about it and have a before and after dyno runs done.

Thanks all. Great suggestions and context. I’ve come to the appreciation that Ferrari won’t leave much power on the table with Naturally aspirated cars but the throttle transitions and response can be optimized.

Mase Engineering also offers a tune for the 458. You should investigate their website and claims.

I have the Mase Engineering tune. I found it made a difference in throttle response, any lag and smoother and faster rev to redline.

    Worth it

Sport cats come in 100 cell and 200 cell.

I have Fabspeed headers iPE 200 cell sport cats iPE exhaust. When I picked up the car after install I had no error codes.

I did the flash tune and did notice a power increase but nothing spectacular but a nice little increase and lots of burbles

You wont gain much if its NA , you can do some minor things but the gains wont be substantial .

the thing with open flash is you're paying for the tablet and the 'custom tunes'. one large negative that I found out the hard way is that you can not resell that product to someone else second hand. You can only re-sell the tablet, not the custom tunes. The new buyer would have to purchase the $1500 tune package.

That for me alone made me not want to go with OFT. This could be the case for Mase and others as well? I just wish we had better tune options, such as protuningfreaks Bootmod3 for the BMW crowd as an example. I understand we're small market, and thus not worth the development, but i can wish!

Im about to straight pipe my car and will be using the capristo obd wizard.. I tune a few hundred vehicles a month but worry too much about the warranty on this thing. If it didnt have the power warranty I would tune the cats off in about 90 seconds. If anyone wants there cats tuned off for offroad use only send me a PM

What does cats tuned off for exactly? Is it just a CEL delete tune or are there performance differences?

I have the EXACT same setup. While I've found nothing in their advertising mentioning it, all the IPE cats and cat delete pipes include a little internal catalytic converter that filters the exhaust before it hits the O2 sensor. It's really slick and all manufacturers should do this for us.

So with IPE straight pipes you don’t get a CEL?
