    Hi all,
I'm lucky to have 2009 430 Scuderia, which I mostly use as a track toy or mountain driving. I was afraid how it will run, but after couple seasons it never missed a beat. Never ever. No matter how hard I drive it.

Now I think to trade it off against 458 Speciale, just because it's newer, faster, more powerfull etc and will have lot less kilometers on clock and warranty.

but from multiple sources I heard horrible stories about engine blows, electronics issues etc all of them mainly happened on track..

any experiences here with heavy track use with Speciale?

    thank You

Did a couple of trackdays with mine. No problems whatsoever - I do warm it up thoroughly before flooring it... Had the brake-fluid changed at first service and the tyres (front tyres, rears were still ok) were done after 5000 miles, that's it. Brake pads are still very good - I use CT-off to save the rear-pads. Just add fuel and light her up 😉
This car is just perfect for the track and can perform on the limit longer than I can 😃

Big road trip to Italy last summer. Only blip was the fuel filler release cord snapped inside door, a few miles outside Maranello, believe it or not. Used manual release until home and dealer fixed. Otherwise didn't miss a beat.

First off please provide details on your multiple sources.

Second, not only did I spend the summer and fall attending Corso Pilota experiences, so did several friends - all at different times. As a collective group, we didn't experience a single problem problem at all.

one car engine blow during track day, another one repeated issues with electronics. after couple laps many red lights on dash and asked for service. I only know 2 speciale owners who track it so multiple is 2 but those two looks a lot less rock solid than mine Scuderia.

it may be very rare issues or they did it by some not proper care, I don't know but i scared me a bit to do the trade, mainly because Scuda is so good

Same experience. Two pilota courses, each with solid two days of tracking by around 30 people, zero issues. My own car over a summer of mountain roads (about 3,000 miles worth) with the car under fairly heavy pressure, nothing. Well, OK, a piece of something got stuck in my HVAC fan but that's it.

Car feels very solid. At least as solid as my Porsche (which has had a problem this year, though it is five yers old so all is mostly forgiven!)

My friend in Germany has a Speciale that he rents... Over 30,000 km of issue-free operation from this car. Outstanding reliability, especially when you consider that most rental customers driving this car very likely drive the snot out of it, often flat-out on the autobahn!!! He has had WAY more issues with his 360's and 430's...

I have several Speciale owners who drive their cars... many!

Zero problems outside tire replacment, which is not a " problem " - they are consumables...

So, yes, I would say they are rock solid!

    Enjoy your new Speciale!

Modern Ferrari's are very reliable. That said...there is tracking, and there is tracking. It all depends on what level you are.

I do 30+ hard track days a year....every shift at redline, every braking event near lockup, and most corners with slip angle on the tires. All day. At this point, I need a dedicated track car that gets very heavy maintenance. Tires last 3-4 days, brakes about 6 days (and it is a light car), fluid changes every 5 days, and still things fail and get replaced.

The point is that once you go to serious tracking of your car, you will need to treat the entire car as a consumable.

For occasional track days, or at a less advanced level, the special is just fine.

    Cheers,

    Ron

Sorry, I was not clear in my post. I have a dedicated track car....a Special at my level of use would not make sense, I would have a challenge car instead.

IMO, street cars are for casual track use only, that's why they make dedicated race cars.

    Cheers,

Ah I see. Agree with you re these cars getting costly and race cars starting to make sense however when you are trackday'ing with friends in the same or similar car it really is gat fun. Going out in a gaggle of speciale's or gt3 rs's really is great fun. A race car would probably be a bit lonely on a trackday? I know when I take my 918 to the track it can be...
