Hi guys, After few years using in track my 997 GT2 I decided to swap it for the new 991 GT3. After few months waiting for Porsche to solve the engine problems , I decided with my brother to change the order and we bought a Speciale. I use the car most of the time on track and I thought that GT3 and GT2 are the best cars for this. I thought that with the speciale I would have modified the suspension setup to go fast, maybe changed the brakes as well. I delivered it and I went to the Ring after just 1500km. This car is unbelievable ! It's perfect! Brakes are always working correctly and you can't feel the ABS . You feel a light car, almost like a race car, agile and quite simple. I used it only in Race mode and it was really good because it didn't cut the power aggressively. Another thing that really impressed me was that after 5 laps I did my best lap ever so I think that it will be a great car to challenge to improve my best lap. The only thing that I didn't like was the tyres, very good for one lap but than quite slippery, I prefer the Pirelli trofeo R. Here's the video of my 7.36min lap. Ferrari 458 Speciale Nurburgring 7.36min - YouTube Hope you like it
Awesome driving and brief review... looking forward to achieving better results next time! Are the Pirelli Trofeo R really that much better?
Thanks for the input and review Manu. Great video (and driving). I had the chance to drive the 458S as well on track and was very impressed with the feel of the car. Overall I felt the Speciale is a safer car than than the standard 458 not to mention that it is a lot quicker.
OP - Thanks for the Quick review and video (nice lap time) M-individual - How do you feel the Speciale is safer? In what respect- As a track car or on the road? Of course it has better brakes and quicker steering and suspension it is more geared as a track toy then the std 458 but a std 458 stops plenty well for daily driving
I am impressed, 7:36 mins WITH, I repeat, WITH traffic, I could see you having to slow down, evade other vehicles, earlier on and then later near the 'kleine Karussel'. This, more so than page-long reviews, speaks volumes about this car.
So in the hands of Schumacher possibly a 7:20 car or even faster. That being said, excellent driving! I appluad you for using the car the way its supposed to be used
Bravo Manu! Ho fatto una gara a Spa a Marzo, entro l'anno vorrei andare al Ring anch´io! What color is it?
Hope you like it[/QUOTE] Bravo Manu...compliments..That's fast...Did you notice this problem with your tires?Just after not so many laps..Will you plan a new set up (angoli) for the front wheels? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Manu, Very impressive driving. How often have you gone to the Ring? What color is your Speciale? Thanks for sharing.
This thread makes me so happy. Manu's driving is impressive and the car is great. Vertical video is killing me.
Mad props on your driving skills. My heart was racing watching that video. What the rest of us do playing Gran Turismo you do in real life.
Great driving, well done! Good to see another guy using his Speciale properly! What are your tires like now? Mine are like this with a mileage below 5k km... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Tom.. Manuma is a well well known Italian gentleman driver with a lot of track experience...Btw my tires are still perfect since I will pick up my Black Speciale today at 16 pm..
Speaks even more of Manu's driving skills! Incredible. I remember the video of his FXX when he was just messing about and half of Fchat told him he couldn't drive (despite him almost matching Dario's time in the FXX in a previous session). Lol.
