each one of these cars are in front of me doing blips and I can't figure out which is coming from which car?

Later those 2 owners told me they are revving 1 at a time in turn....... and they told me both cars are 100% stock.

    is that normal?

This is coming from a CS and modena owner. CS and modena sound just totally different

SA sounds deeper at idle and considerably louder at upper rev range. I can diffrentiate them pretty easily.

SA is definitely louder and mine has more pops and gurgles than my Italia or Speciale had.

No difference between the two. The "tuning" done to the 458 for either the special or A is actually quite small - especially compared to what individual Ferrari owners have done on their. The factory tune of the later additions I surprisingly conservative - aftermarket work done by those on this forum and elsewhere create a much more differentiated and aggressive 458 compared to the Speciale or A.

they sound the same.. its the same motor. you could probably just throw an exhaust on the regular 458 and be louder than a speciale

the speciale A is maybe 20 yards from me, the italia is about 15 years. (we are waiting in line). They rev to redline while standing still and they sound the same to me.......
closed my eyes and i couldn't figure

High pitch vs louder and deeper.

458 and speciale are the same engine block, but internals, rotating assembly (hardware) are different. It's not just a different factory tune.

When the bypass valves are active I imagine they will sound similar, however once the bypass vales are disconnected which many of us have done, there is noticeable difference between the two. Same goes for aftermarket exhaust , both variants can be very loud , but sound distinct .

That's most of the difference but in starting up I felt that the Speciale and the SA had a deeper tone to the exhaust.

would expect the difference b/w the 488 "special" and the 488 to be far more dramatic (given the extreme latitude afforded by turbo engines) than the 458 to 458 "speciale" difference, which I have not found to be that dramatic.

Personally I preferred the sound from my Italias vs my speciale.
And my spider had far more pops and character than the speciale. Not just because the top was down.

The best sound of all 458’s is the spider. Truly amazing!
