Hi everyone, just bought my first Ferrari - a 2013 458 Spider and am working to address some cosmetic issues. It looks like the previous owner (or the valet!) backed it onto a curb and I have a couple of diffuser fins to refinish but the trim piece above it with the rear fog light is also cracked (see attached pic). Does anyone know if the rear bumper must be removed entirely to unfasten the black trim fog light surround?

Yes. Same with the center rear brake light. Bumper off.

Do you have a closer picture? That might not just be “trim” but the diffuser itself, which is more costly than a couple fins. Might be a good excuse to put in a whole new 3rd party carbon diffuser :)

I'm pretty sure it's the fog light surround (the parts list call it a "Lower RH Air Intake" - part #81899310) - here's a better pic of the crack. Sounds like the rear bumper cover will have to come off to do it right - thanks everyone!

The OEM fog light surround bezel is made of magnesium and often gets cracked.
Is your rear bumper Ferrari carbon?
If so, I’d suggest matching any new carbon with Ferrari OEM and not just for the weave. That’s what I ended up doing after trying some aftermarket pieces.
Ferrari OEM costs more but it fits better and also has a nicer looking shape. I ended up swapping front winglets, rear bumper, fog light bezel and rear diffuser to Ferrari carbon

But if you don’t want to spend the money for Ferrari carbon, no one will fault you.

The usual reason for cracked fog light surround, is due to a careless flatbed operator. When pulling on or off of the flatbed, they will sometimes strike the fins. If hit hard enough, the light surround cracks exactly in the spot yours did. I can't tell you how many times I've seen this on 458's.
The problem is that they focus on the front bumper, and when the front is raised, the rear gets lower.

    Beautiful car!
And yes to replace the fog light surrounds, the bumper must come off
To change the rear diffuser only, bumper can stay on.
To change exhaust muffler tips to Ferrari Titanium tips, bumper must come off.
I also did the latter for both aesthetics, a little weight savings and maybe a slight sound change. My OEM tips had gotten discolored

I have a brand new set of 458 rear carbon fiber fog light surrounds (left and right) as a direct replacement for the factory ones in your photo. Send me a PM if you’re interested. Will sell for $650 shipped.

JT - so is your new 458S Titanio? Congrats - that color just knocks me out, was my top choice but I landed a nice G Silverstone instead.
Mine has the exact same crack on the left piece. Does anyone know if a new OEM piece comes pre-painted, or if not, what paint to use on it?

(FCogn didn't get banned for just offering a part for sale in the wrong place, did he?)

I replaced one not long back. Comes primed as from factory they were grey metallic or matte/satin black.

Not too hard to replace and I managed to leave the bumper attached to the car, but removed all fixings from the bottom and entirely from the side I was replacing so I could pull it back far enough to swap them out.

As I mentioned before, I did aftermarket carbon on the surrounds and front winglets. Ugh!
I paid to have the aftermarket one replaced with Ferrari carbon. Perfect fit, black mesh vent secure, better shapes and the weave pattern and quality of the top coat much better!

Plus it matches all the rest of my OEM carbon: rear diffuser , bumper strip, full interior carbon
