I’m on the market for my second exotic and I’m looking at a Lamborghini huracan lp610 or a Ferrari 458. I just want a fun weekend car. Those of you that have owned both which did you prefer? Pro’s and cons?

I have a Ferrari 360 I’ve been tinkering with for a while now.

I just sold my 610-4 for a 991.2 Turbo S.. The 610-4 drives good at 8/10's. When you push toward its limits the understeers pretty bad. It is faster and has better tech than a 458 but I believe the 458 is the better driving car. Knowing what I know now I'd do the 458.

Silly question, but have you driven both? Which do you prefer as it’s going to be your car? I’d suspect you will hear 458 on this forum and 610 on Lamborghini forums.

I've driven both, still own the 610-4. I would choose the 610-4. Have two other ferrari's, love them, more smiles per mile in the 610 lately for me

Have driven both, Huracan for me…..and I thought I’d be the only one on here to vote that way

But as always, you need to drive both…..But it is hard to do that these days unless you know the right people

I have an EVO and a 458. I would say that is a better comparison as both are RWD. Hard to go wrong. Whichever one I'm in is my favorite car. This speaks volumes for the 458 because its a 2012 and the EVO is a 2023. Held up real well.

It's true what they say you need to go drive both even if its for a test drive. This shouldn't be a problem especially if you let the dealer know you already have an exotic.

How noticeable is the difference in speed and how does the handling compare?

Currently have an Evo RWD looking to see if I should add a 458 or an F12. Love the looks of the 458, but not sure if it’s worth having 2 mid engine rwd cars

Great stuff. I have an EVO, 458 and F12. Great minds think alike.

The speed is not a huge difference but it is there. I have only tracked the EVO once so I do not have as many data points as the 458/F12. The most noticeable thing in a high performance situation is that the EVO has a ton more grip. The chassis is also harder to upset.

For off track driving the most noticeable things to me are the DCT. The EVO is really smooth and you don't get that jolt when you shift hard like you get in the 458 (which can add to the excitement). The steering feel is also a bit more muted in the EVO due to full electric steering. You feel a bit more of the road in the 458. And it just feels lighter.

Frankly, I think you are right in that adding another mid-engine might be redundant. You also might not completely gel with the 458 coming from an EVO in that its a bit older and maybe not as polished. The F12 would give you an entirely different experience that might contrast well with the EVO.

I’ve driven the Lamborghini. I liked it, but Ive never owned one. I’ve had a 488 I really enjoyed it, but I don’t want another one at this time. I have a 360 I’ve been tinkering with it’s staying in the stable. I haven’t had any experience with a 458. Thank you guys for the input. I’m definitely torn between which one to choose.

  10. The Lambo.

    V10 > V8.

If you can, try EVO RWD. But AWD is still good (and better than the 458), but the EVO would be really the sweetspot.

Having had a 610, a Performante and 458, I would add this. The tech, speed and sound id give to the Lambo. The driving position and steering (feeling like are between the front wheels) and cart like feel I’d give to the 458. If I was in your position, I’d suggest selling the 360 and get a Pista. It’s better than both cars combined.

I’d rather pay cash for my toys and I personally love my 360. I’m about to manual swap it. I just want a second toy to drive while the 360 is down.

I get it, I loved my 458 also. It was when I hadn’t driven it for a month or so that then when I did, it felt slow as heck and less sharp on turn in etc. I also realized that the “screaming” exhaust was no longer appealing to me.

These guys are the perfect pairing imo

I'd grab a 488 or the Huracan. I'll add back a Scuderia and CS as time progresses. Gated 360 will always stay. The 458 just doesn't/didn't do it for me at all.

The 610 is better in every category minus feeling special. If you wanna have fun get the 610 if you want to feel special get the 458.

These choices are always so hard

    I owned a 458 from 2014 to 2016 and an lp610 from 2016 to 2019.

Bought my second 458 in June of 2022 so you know who I vote for.:p

458 is just the better car, the lambo is fun but the ferrari has that special feel to it.

I’ve had multiple people tell me they prefer the 458 over the 488 so I definitely appreciate the input! I want a pista one day, but it’s not going to be in the budget anytime soon.

I did a testdrive with an EVO RWD today and honestly I'm very impressed with it.

The exhaust note the Akrapovic makes in sport mode is just crazy. And this was even at low rpm and low speeds.

I don't know if it was because it was a new experience or not but this feels like an amazing daily driver; fun to drive redefined.
The car feels slower than the F8 but for street driving I don't care much. But the sound this thing makes !?! :D

Seriously thinking of getting it unless I wait for the Technica.

Yes I got one and you could daily it for sure. It's really fun to drive which is why I bought it. I hear the technica is even more insane but i think the styling is a miss so I'm staying put.

I believe so but if you have an EVO to trade in they'll move you up

    I don’t have a 458 so can’t answer that.

First and only Ferrari is the pista above. I have the tecnica and sto. Had a 610-4. Love the huracan in terms of drivability.

Would like to one day have a scud or 16M tho lol.
