    Hi everyone, I bought a 2012 458 a couple of months ago and last week had the red gearbox warning symbol flash up and stay on a couple of times. Both times i stopped the car and it reset and I was able to carry on and I didn't have any shifting issues in manual or in auto at any stage before or after the light came on. Should I take it to the dealer or is this a normal occurrence? as I said, I have only had the car a couple of months and have no prior experience with a 458. It is under warranty but someone may help diagnose the issue. Loving the car!

    I bought my 2010 458 new and have not had that problem.

    If it was my car I would only take it in if it comes on again.

    Probably just a glitch; but would do as per Lee's advice as the dealer has the tool to precisely diagnose the car

    I have a 2012 also with 5000 miles my gearbox just went also. Almost 50k to replace

    $50K to replace? That doesn't sound right, you should make a thread and tell us exactly whats happening. You also posted in another thread then disappeared...this forum is to share information and solutions not just come and get info & advice then never post what the outcome was.
