My 458 is on a truck to my summer home and I am a little concerned whether I have enough front clearance to go up a sloped driveway. Search results show the front lip has about 7.25 inches of clearance. Can anyone tell me exactly how far the nose is in front of the center of the front wheels, or what the angle is ? I do not have the lifter option. Thanks

watch the back fins instead of the front, they are lower than the nose

Very good point, you may make the clearance as you negotiate your driveway but on the way out if you are reversing slowly those fins are very prone to scraping. I would be more concerned about the fins when exiting if you have a tricky driveway.Make sure you have someone guiding you out when reversing.
    Good luck.

Just measured it, the rear fin is only 5 inches or 12.6 cm from the ground.

From the front wheel centre cap to the tip of the front spoiler it's approx 36in or 93cm.

Rear much lower than the front.

But the front overhang is much longer than the rear overhang. In my experience, it's possible for me to (gently) scrape the bottom of the front license plate holder on a driveway, but the rear fins don't scrape (but come very close).

Thanks for the replies. Based on the 36 inch wheel center to nose length, I need less than an 11 degree approach slope to be safe. I will try to measure my driveway tomorrow. The rear fin may be lower, but I think Ski Bum has it correct since the fin appears to be less than 20 inches from the wheel center, so that is a steeper angle. I will check that out also.

actually this is the 3rd time i scrape my fins, i have the 3 left fins ordered thru ricambi, the front is ok esp. if u invest in a skid plate

for the back fins steep speed bumps are very tricky and backing up onto an even slightly upward sloping driveway a fin scraping certainty, esp. because my fins are only 3.5 inches from the ground with the car's stock coilovers being lowered at the max :)

here she is lowered 1.75 inches at the front and 1.25 at the back, stay low lol :) :)

There are many practical reasons why our cars leave the factory configured in stock form.
I think you will be a long term repeat customer with Ricambi lol !

just gotta crawl on those speed bumps lol, actually its amazing im not scraping more than i do lol, to me that lowered look is a must, looks like a totally different car imho

btw my next upgrade, the ferrari genuine 458 silencers, will indeed most probably come from ricambi as they offer a better deal than the dealer! :)

The middle front to the ground measures 7 inches.

I also measure the rear fin to the ground at 5.5 inches.

Do you know anyone with a 458 that can drive up/down your driveway? This is probably the most accurate way to know if you will need the lift.

    precisely what i did.
i drove the dealer demo up and down my drive.
this proved i did not need the lift.

I'm curious about your report on genuine 458 silencers. Please report back us once you deliver.

2k7997tt - Did you measure the distance from the wheel centers to front and back low points? Unfortunately I am 400 miles from the nearest dealer and there are no other 458s around here that I know of, so a test of another car is not possible.

Thank you this info,it was very helpful to me. According to the info (36" L 7.5" H and a 11 degree angle) I should not need the front lifter on the 458 to get into my driveway. I thought I would need one because my previous 360 spider lightly scraped if I was not careful (and our current house has a steeper driveway).

Does anyone know if standard ride height has changed year-to-year. I just compared my 14 to an 11 (both standard and have not been modified) and the 14 is tiny bit higher... The gap between the wheel well and the tire was always larger than I had liked but haven't noticed on my 11,12 or 13 but noticed the 14 looked to have even a bigger gap and I was correct. It is slightly higher... Anyone else make the observation?

Yikes!! As if the gap wasn't enough to begin with!!

These cars need to be lowered to look right.

It was the first thing I ever noticed when I first saw a 458... that huge gap actually takes away from the sleekness and smooth flow of the car.
