My 458 is in Production Stage 20…. Production set to finish by 9th July and is supposed to be State Side Mid August 2010.

I am working on getting my Garage ready to park the car and will be parking it with my beloved 997.1 Turbo Cab AWE Tuned 650 HP beast.

I plan to get a Bendpak 6000 car lift system installed - http://www.bendpak.com/car-lifts/parking-lifts/PL-6000.aspx

The Height Of The 997 which will be parked on the Garage Floor is 51.2 Inches

The Height Of the 458 Which will be on the lift is 47.8 Inch

The Garage Height Is 126 Inch (10.5 Feet) Total

Total Height Of Cars is 99 Inch.

If I leave 12 inches between the two cars and 12 inches from Garage Ceiling to 458 Roof it will be a tight fit but will work.

If anyone has any suggestions/ideas on this install or other available solutions I would appreciate the help…

American Custom lifts also makes a single post lift called the Maximum One, have you compared theirs to the Bendpack..Just curious, because I am considering getting the same type also.... http://www.aclifts.com/parking

Watch out. The lift decking is several inches tall, something likely 4-6",which requires using ramps to drive on and off. Make sure you account for this extra height when factoring in clearance issues. The ramps supplied have a relatively steep slope, so watch the front nose on entry. Also, watch out for overhead fixtures/pipes; I had this set up in an old house, and I nearly sent my car into a lighting fixture.

Why are you stayng 12" away from ceiling? I go about 2" from ceiling in lift mode & then lower into lock position.

I have that same lift - and it works great. There are a few things you need to be careful of but most of all find a professional installer and make sure you have the correct room before you order the system. I have one bad pic in my garage profile and feel free to ask ??'s

For now I have researched the following:
    1. I need to change my Garage system to a jackshaft... this way my door will only take 6 to 7 inch of the ceiling height.
    2. The Garage floor is being checked for Concrete depth - it should be 4.5 inch to bolt on the lift to the floor - I am very sure my floor is more than 5 inches.
    3. The column height of the PL 6000 is 119 inches and my garage ceiling height is 126 inches. The lift dealer is checking on that with this garage height will there be any issues when erecting the PL 6000 column.
    4. I will get the installer out and let him review the dimensions on the garage and confirm that the lift can be installed (my measurements show that my garage which can hold a suburban has enough area available for this).
    5. I agree with you - that 2 inches is enough above the 458 - I lost 7 inches to the garage door so now I have 5 inches - still enough.
    6. I will be calling a electrical contractor to get the 220Volt required by the lift.
    7. I need to get a compressor installed as the dealer says this is better than a air bottle.
    Will appreciate any comments.

    What is the compressor for?

Keep in mind I park a Healey sideways in front of where the 612 sits. The 612 front tire sits on the small incline ramp that covers the leg to handle the offset. If you do not lift the platform high enough you will whack your head I am 6 2 and it hurts.

I changed my ceiling lights to save my head and lift it to the max. The other concern is the placement of the lift to clear the garage door. My Camaro is short and it only has 7 inches to the back wall. You may need to change the rails in the garage door.

Two issues after the install. Be sure to grease the chain system heavily or it will shake and scare the h^ll out of you. The other is the electric release - for some reason I could not get it to hold and eventually purchased a stronger hold out lowering mechanism known as a screwdriver - Good Luck

Todo - How did your install go? Are you happy with the BendPak PL-6000? I am in the process of enlarging my garage and am thinking of the PL-6000X. I will have about 11'6" ceiling which should allow me to get the extended version of the lift.

I have a 360 Modena I'll be putting on the lift - Will I need some blocks or ramps to get the my 360 on to the platform without hitting the underside or can I just drive on the built in ramps without issue?

Since I will be pouring a new concrete floor, I am considering pouring a base first and then pouring the finished floor over top of the cover plate so that there is nothing the lower car needs to drive over...any thoughts on this? Is this doable?

Do you have any pictures of your install that you can share?

    Thanks!

    Marco

Wow! Nice. Gotta get me one of these babies. Nice touch with the Ferrari sticker on the lift platform.

I have a superlift 7,000lb lift on the way. The model I ordered has the part of the platform that is normally inside the posts surround it completely, seems like a stronger design where the platform couldnt possibly fall off of the uprights.

Hmm...you have over a 10' ceiling and from the picture it looks like the max you can raise your lift is about 5' - is this true? I have an 11'6" ceiling - will I be able to raise the lift past 6' (using the PL-6000X which says it can lift to 85"). How many inches does your garage door track come down from the ceiling?

    Thanks for any help!

@ rzundel, I have the same lift and an Italia ordered. Do you have any front clearance issues with the ramps when driving onto the lift?

I have this same lift in my garage. My ceiling is 11' high which allows me to lift the car about 6'4" above the ground. Which is high enough to walk under the lift without banging your head. This is very useful!! :)

You should be fine but may have to be a bit lower.

    Enjoy

I have a couple of Bendpak lifts and I'm having them removed. They are good lifts but the car you want to drive is always on top. It seemed like a good idea at the time, now it's simply frustrating.

Sainthoo is correct the lift base is about 5" tall so you will need to subtract this from the total. Also once the vehicle is raised, you need to let the lift settle to its locks to relieve the stress on the hydraulics. Make sure you measure the track width of the car and compare it to the width of the ramps. Bendpak has large gussets which extend out onto the cross member. If your track is very wide you may only have a couple inches on each side. ( I have the narrow lift due to width constraints ). Lastly, the airlocks on the Bendpak are small air pistons which only require about 25 psi to open them. If you have access to a large enough air bottle try it first. Very little air is ultimately required. Yet, having a compressor is invaluable for lots more reasons.

I also did the 7W from Bendpak and am happy with it.

You don't have to get a bigger garage door, but you do have to rework your tracks to go all the way to your ceiling and then you need to get a direct drive garage door opener like the Liftmaster 8500.

Also, the photo above has the extended ramps, the stock ramps that come with it are fine too if you have the lifter, but the car will bottom out in the middle if you try to use the shorter ramps without the front lifter up.

I have had a Bendpak for 4 years and have a lot of issues. Fitting broke, (they were plastic), I had to have them replaced. This year the motor went out and I had the motor and hydraulics replaced for about $1000.

My friend has the backyard buddy the same amount of time and has had no trouble.
