A couple of questions about the lift points, and procedures for placing jack stands.

I know where the four lift points are, and have read the threads about using hockey pucks between them and the jack; in the alternative, what about cutting plywood to fit INSIDE the two raised shallow metal ridges? Is the area between them strong enough to bear the weight of the car, or must the wood / jack point include the raised ridges as well?

Once I have it jacked up, where and how to place the jack stands?

I read the thread about placing it behind the lift point, but wonder if there are any other suggestions?

    *bump*

Can someone chime in on where to place the jack stands?

I am about to start some R&R and don't want to work on the beast with only the jacks holding it up!

    Anyone?

With my car, I go just to the rear of the front lift point with a 12" 2X4. There is a ridge that separates the frame from the lower body piece, just butt the wood up to this. I get the jack as far forward as I can, while still being able to place the jackstand at the jack point. I jack both sides up together this way, incrementally. When I have the front of the car upon the jackstands, I move to the back of the car with the same procedure. Not the quickest thing, but I can have the car up in the air in 15 min or so.
