I hope this is helpful for at least some of you and, as I mentioned above, please correct me if I have a value incorrect or have misstated something. My intent for this post was to accurately present each brand and it's offerings, so corrections will not hurt my feelings at all.

Note #1- I have put numbers next to each option simply for numbering purposes. The numbers do not denote that I hold one manufacturer in higher regard than any other.

Note #2- Contrary to what some have said, MOV'IT does not offer a carbon braking system for the Scuderia at this time, only a steel kit for the F430.

Note #3- There have been previous posts about the GiroDisc front rotors being 405mm. That rotor is a previous generation one that has been phased out by the manufacturer. The new ones are 398mm, just like stock.

I'm currently using the Girodisc option, with Pagid RS29 pads. I'm very happy with it.

You can add an other option: CCM refurbishment. I refurbished my two front rotors using Sicom Europe (Prices - SICOM ceramic brakedisc refurbishment). They are still in the box because I love my steel configuration.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'll contact them and find out what U.S. shipping costs would be like and what sort of turn around time they have.

Also, I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying your Girodisc rotors! I don't think I've ever heard a negative experience from anyone who has used their products which says a lot about the company.

Please report back on what you hear from Sicom. I don't need to redo my rotors just yet, but I'd like to know the options. Haven't heard of anyone in the US use Sicom yet.

Will do. One of the things I'm interested in is how many times this refurbishment process could be done.

For instance, in my talks with Gavin Riches, Surface Transforms' U.S. representative, he told me that Surface Transforms' discs are able to be “refurbished” about 4-5 times for the price of $2,500 including shipping (turnaround time is about 3 weeks including transportation). In addition, their discs are supposed to last about twice as long as our OEM ones.

If you're interested in that option, I strongly recommend that you contact, Gavin. He’s extremely knowledgeable and very personable. In addition, he owns and frequently tracks a Porsche Cup car, so he has real world knowledge of this type of technology.

Mov'It also makes direct replacements for CCM rotors. Relatively expensive but solid CSC instead of the thin layer of material on the CCM rotors. Will last pretty much forever. I have their brakes on my 575M. No squeal, no dust and a bottomless pit of braking.

    Terry,

Thanks for the reply. It's interesting that you mention this because when I contacted MOV'IT myself, they informed me that they didn't have a kit available. In addition, their representative didn't even bring up replacement discs. See the message below:

I'll contact them again and specifically ask them about replacement discs.

Dave- Last time I talked to Guido, the owner, they had replacement CER rotors for the two primary modern V8 CCMs, the CS/F430 and the Scuderia/16M, the only difference in those two being 380 mm vs 398 mm front rotors, rears are the same. Those used the OEM calipers. They also had pads for that set-up made by Pagid to their own proprietary composition.

Like the e-mail said, they do not have complete sets of brakes for those applications, which includes rotors, calipers, and pads, except in smaller sizes.

Only my rear brakes are listed on their applications chart, not my 396 mm x 36 mm fronts with 6 piston calipers, so you have to be real specific. Talking to Tom at Mov'It USA might be a good start since he is the one that provided my brakes to me.

Seems like I remember reading about CC rotors from the Vette that are also a direct replacement and are much cheaper. Anyone know details about this option?

Also, Taurino makes a nice steel conversion set for the F430C cars which should also work in the Scud.

I'm a big fan of Girodisc. I have their brakes on my Lambo (OEM on the Ferrari still), and last time I was in Vegas I noticed all of those "Exotics Racing" cars have Girodisc rotors in place of the carbons as well, and those cars are tracked hard all day, every day.

I've seen it mentioned as well. For instance, the rotors are discussed in this Racing Brake thread:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430-sponsored-yellow-compass-group/479725-brake-options-f430-scuderia-ccm-iron-we-have-both.html

Also, in this thread where Terry says they can be used but F430GT refutes his claim:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430-sponsored-yellow-compass-group/398436-swedish-430-scuderia-owners-moving-steel-brakes.html

I know for sure that Racing Brake doesn't use them currently as their carbon rotors are supplied by Surface Transforms.

As for the Taurino Racing option, I'll look into it.

    Update:

The Racing Brake (RB) carbon rotors can be refurbished.
Cost- $400/rotor excluding shipping and handling
Leadtime 4-5 wks (1. Rotors are sent to RB 2. RB disassembles them and sends only the discs to Surface Transforms (ST) in the UK 3. Once the discs are refurbished, ST sends them back to RB 4. RB reassembles the rotors and ships them back to you)

I have gotten in contact with Tom from MOV'IT USA and he confirms that they do offer a steel and carbon disc replacement. Currently, I'm just waiting on him to provide me with the specifications of each option.

I have contacted Sicom but have not received a reply yet.

Racing Brake and Mov'It use the same transforms for their rotors and both are really tough compared to CCM rotors, at least Gen 1 CCM rotors. I have a thread in the 575 section about my front and rear Mov'it CERs that includes test data for a tracked Porsche Turbo. Seems like it was ~3500 track miles with no rotor wear, one set of front pads and the rears were still fine.

Ferrari owners have used the Corvette front rotors (rears are too large) on their Scuds/16Ms. The rotor diameter is slightly smaller, but the pads still fit on the rotors. All that is used is the friction rings transferred to the Ferrari hats. Corvette rotors are about $1200 from online discounters. The fronts should be wearing more rapidly than the rears, at any rate, so a cheap source of fronts is not insignificant.

Mov'It brakes are much cheaper now than when I bought mine since the Euro is taking it in the shorts.

Thank you for the information, Terry. Is this the correct thread that you are referring to?
    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/456-550-575-sponsored-bradan/298460-movit-ceramic-brakes-arrived-today.html

If so, I noticed that you started that thread in 2010. I bring that up because in the literature Tom sent me, MOV'IT is on their 3rd generation of rotors, so I'm wondering if you know what generation your rotors are.

Concerning the Corvette rotors, I'm glad that you were able to clarify that they do work. So, let me see if I understand you correctly. 1. The stock Scud pads, hats, and calipers are all compatible with the Corvette rotor 2. All that is needed is the friction rings from the Corvette for all of this to work together

    Terry,

According to Tom in the thread about your MOV'IT brake kit, you have the 2nd generation brake kit.

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/456-550-575-sponsored-bradan/298460-movit-ceramic-brakes-arrived-today-4.html

Also, see the attached image from the brochure Tom sent me.

Concerning the RB/ZR1 kit, I was able to find it on their website using the search function and have emailed them about. In addition, I found a complete brake kit (calipers, rotors, hats, brake lines, brake fluid, etc.) with 410x36 front discs and 390x32 rears that RB claims will fit the stock Scud wheels. Not surprisingly, I've emailed them about it to confirm.

You're welcome. You've been a huge help with this thread so I'm glad I could provide some information to you for once.

Concerning your rear rotors, based on your photos here:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/456-550-575-sponsored-bradan/298460-movit-ceramic-brakes-arrived-today-10.html

I would presume that they are 2nd Generation as well due to the fact that they have only one set of vanes on the outer edge of the rotors. If you look at the image that I posted in my last reply, it looks like the 3rd Gen rotors have two sets of vanes on the outer edge of the rotors.

    Update:

SICOM has gotten back with me.

    1. They claim that they have Scuderia rotors in stock and that they are ready to ship.
    2. The prices are 950€ (~$1,530) (Front) and 890€ (~$987) (Rear) for each disc.
    3. Shipping to the U.S. for all four discs via DHL express is 100€ (~$111).
    4. They require a deposit and it is 700€ (~$777) for each disc.
    5. They want you to remove your hats before sending your discs.

So, the process goes like this:

    1. You inform SICOM that would like newly refurbished discs and send them a deposit and payment. (The payment can be with a credit card.)
    2. You remove your hats from your discs and ship the discs to SICOM.
    3. Once your payment in step 1 clears, SICOM immediately sends you rotors that they have already been refurbished. Once your rotors get to SICOM and they inspect them and confirm that they are in good shape, they refund your deposit.

I have also heard from Racing Brake.

Racing Brake offers two more kits for those that would like to keep using carbon rotors.

    1. RB/ZR1 CCM Rotors for Ferrari 430 Scuderia (Front)
    Size- 394x36mm
    Weight- 14lbs
    Vanes- 30
    Modifications- None
    Price- $5,400
RB/ZR1 CCM Rotors for Ferrari 430 Scuderia (Front)

This is a front rotor only kit that utilizes the Corvette ZR1's discs and RB's own hat. Also, RB does not offer a service for refurbishing these rotors (I guess you could use SICOM if you go this route).

    2. RB Calipers & Rotor Package for Ferrari 430 Scuderia, 430 16M & F430 Challenge

    Size- 410x36mm (Front), 390x32mm (Rear)
    Weight- 14lbs (Front), 10lbs (Rear)
    Vanes- 30 (Front), 30 (Rear)
    Modifications- None
    Price- $20,950
    RB Calipers & Rotor Package for Ferrari 430 Scuderia, 430 16M & F430 Challenge (P/N 2C53 & 2C54)

This is a complete brake kit and includes:
2 RB 6-piston caliper (7075-T6 forged aluminum alloy)
2 RB 4-piston rear caliper (6061-T6 forged aluminum alloy)
2 Front CCM-X Rotor (410x36mm - Surface Transforms specifically made to RB specs)
2 Rear CCM-X Rotor (390x32mm - Surface Transforms specifically made to RB specs)
    2 Rear aluminum spacers
    1 Car set brake pads
1 Car set SS brake lines
8 M12x1.5 alloy steel caliper mounting bolts
4 Bottle 1/2 liter Motul RBF600 Brake Fluid

    These rotors can be refurbished.

On top of all this, I finally heard back from an actual Brembo employee, so hopefully I'll be able to get exact numbers for the GT-R kit.
