Hi Guys. I'm a Ferrari owner up in Oklahoma. I have an 07 F430 Spider. I have scheduled a trip to South Beach from Dec 22 - Dec 28... I really thought it would be fun if while in FL I had my 430 with me to play around and cruise in..... BUT then I looked at what it was gonna cost to get it transported there! OUCHHH, not to mention, I'm sure the hotel takes you for all they can when it comes to overnight parking. So, I realize it probably isn't anywhere near cost effective to do most if any rental places down there, but thought this would be the place to ask. So does anyone know of a place where you can rent a 430 spider for a reasonable price? I am sure it's probably a total rip-off anywhere... but you never know unless you ask. Appreciate any feedback! Thanks, Matt
I go to Southbeach every year after X-mas. I usually take my 360 down, but this year we have a new member of the family with us.(check my profile ) I haven't found a way to have a passenger and a car seat in the 360 Yet. (thinking about taking the hood off and bolting the child seat in lol. There is/was a exotic car rental place in south beach down a little bit form Hustler Hollywood. The didn't have a 430 last year but maybe they do this year. THe had a Gallardo and a Murci last year I believe. I'll be down Dec 27- Jan 3rd. Maybe we can plan a F-chat meet, then we wouldn't have to rent. I'll try to find the name for you, if a sobe resident doesn't post it first.
South beach exotic rentals is the name they have a 430 coupe no spider on the website. Hot Car Rentals Miami has a 430 spider for $2300 a day.
Best way to get around South Beach is: cab, scooter, skateboard, and walk in that order. Its only a 2 mile (24 blocks) by 1 mile (about 15 blocks) area.
Yah, I realize "south beach" is a small area. I know those rental places have to make a living, but $2300.00 per day, they can dream on. I wouldn't pay that to own one for a month, let alone rent one for 50 miles a day. Not that I am saying the car isn't worth it, but I am not gonna make their entire monthly payment on the thing in one day! I guess if money were absolutely NO object, I might feel differently.... but I doubt it. I thought it would be fun to just cruise around all of miami, ft lauderdale, and maybe even a drive to the keys... nothing is quite the same as driving around in a 430 spider... IMO. Drove mine to work today in 23 degree weather... (top up of course) would really prefer the ocean air of Miami! IMO!
I rented at 430 spyder from these guys fro a three day weekend. They were awesome and worked with me on the price. They're in west palm, but they'll transport down there. http://www.xoticdreamcars.com/ (tell em I sent you so I can get better discounts next time!)
I would go with Gotham Dream Cars, and not just because they are personal friends but check their availability bc they transport cars from here to New York...
I second Xotic Dream Cars, I do their photography, and just did a photoshoot of their F430 Spider (It has some tweeks on the exhaust and it sounds awesome). Talk to Deric, he can get you a very competitive price. Tell him Jasen the photographer sent you. Pictures of the Ferrari: http://www.automotionphoto.com/2009/11/xotic-dream-cars.html
I can appreciate your thinking, but do you realize you will never get the car above 100 for a very short period of time, and then driving around at about 35 MPH, or 10 MPH down Ocean Drive. Furthermore, Bentley Convertibles, Rolls Phantom Convertibles, and every other luxury import vehicle are everywhere down here, so driving the Ferrari a low speeds is not going to get you any attention, and probably be a frustrating experience. I can only get my car into third gear driving around down here most of the time. Parking in the front of a hotel on Ocean drive and have it left in front is now up to 30 bucks at least in addition to the other issues. Spend the money on a town car or a SUV and have the guy drive you around possibly for less money, IMHO, that is the way to go if you don't want to take a cab. AAA rated Miami drivers as the worst in the nation, so that would be another reason. FYI, I would avoid driving on 95 as well. BTW, driving to the keys is a top speed of 40 MPH for three hours stuck in one lane, sucks to drive there in a F-car, I know.
Frankly, driving a Ferrari in Florida is about as exciting as watching paint dry. You can't find a curve in a road if you tried. Don't bother renting one, it's just not worth it.
