Thanks, and yep, now that you mention it, they do appear to be 512TR rims.
IMHO the 18"s are actually a bit too "big" for the look of the car - I think big wheels & low profile tyres work better with a contemporay vehicles style, i think a 17" wheel would suit a 412 better.

I actually like those wheels on there pretty well! I think they look good. Not my fav wheel design, but I do like how they seem to fill out the wheel arches better. How is the ride and did it throw off the speedo/odo or is this just a +2 size or a +3 sizing? The car was designed w/ 55 series rubber in mind and these are what??? 40 series, maybe even 35 at the back? I suspect I would find the 400 a touch soft anyway, so ultimately when I get a 400 this will be something I would like to do to firm it up a bit. Not to mention the whole issue of trying to find the TRX's and all that craziness.

I still think the TRX 400i wheels are the best looking of all of them. (bit bigger than the 15", not hideous like the inverted 412 ABS wheels). And I still haven't seen a good replacement wheel for the 400 (Not digging the 512TR wheels, 456 or 348 wheels, etc.)

I'd probably do 16" 308 QV or early non-ABS 328 wheels myself. But heck, I still don't have a 400i, so what difference does my opinion make. haha...

    Hi Michael,

The fronts look nice, but how about a shot of the rears, looking upward to show how much clearance there is between the tire and the fender?

I believe the rears are 10" wide, so I'd like to get a feel for how much clearance you've got (on both inside and outside) and what size spacer is used. Also what size are the tires, front and rear? Can you tell if the P.O. may have had the rear fenders rolled or modded to handle the tires without rubbing? I've got 225/50 X 17 on 9" wide rear wheels with 25mm spacers on my 412 and there's not much space left in my rear wheel wells.(either side)

Any additional info or pictures would be great. Thanks!

Brad, the front & rears are both 10" wide, no spacers used, the fenders have not been rolled front or rear and there is no rubbing. There is not much clearance at the rear, perhaps 10-12 mm, but it's sufficient for the tyre not to touch the bodywork. The tyre size is 255/45 ZR18.

    Regards
    Michael

    Thanks, Michael!

That's great to know, and definitely gives 412 owners yet another option to dealing with the TRX tire problem. There is definitely more than one way to skin (or re-skin) a cat.

Does anybody know the actual offsets for the OEM 412 and 400i wheels? Thought I would add them to my database. They are usually printed on the back of the rims for later Ferraris. Not sure if that is the case for the 412, 400i or not.
