Just spent the day at the Corvettes at Carlisle meet and looked at several 4 post lifts: Eagle, Autolifters, Perfect Park, and Back Yard Buddy. There's a fair price spread from about $2200 to $3500 between them. I have a ceiling height of 9'3" and will be storing a 328 and my Corvette in one garage slot. I think I can make it with a few inches to spare from the ceiling.

I'm looking for any advice, brand recs, or experiences you guys may have had with with this stuff. I want to use it for storage as well as working on my cars. Quality is primary, cost secondary. I'm not sure what features to look for, as all the specs seem to be more than adequate for the weight of my cars.

    Thanks, Bob Ochsman, Lovettsville, VA

I had a 4 post lift from www.teamlift.com installed in my 10 feet ceiling garage for $2600 for the lift, delivery and installation. I can store my Boxer on top and park my M5 below. I have been well pleased with the quality and performance so far.

search the archives. TONS of data. of your list, at least autolifters and backyard buddy make solid post lifts. eagle and others make c-channel lifts (the posts only have three sides). the former is structurally preferable, but does generally cost more.

backyard buddy's prices are so high because they are adamant about "made in america" so they're taking it up the butt hard on steel prices, etc.

Bob, I was at Carlisle as well (perhaps you viewed our lineup of Grand Sports!). I saw the Autolifters unit at the show and just want to be sure that you knew they brought the M80 model, not the more common M6. The latter is more compact and may suit your needs better. I've had an M6 for about 5 years and am very impressed with the overall build quality.

As Doody mentioned, steel prices have got to be hammering these guys. Our company purchases a huge amount of steel each year - even with that buying power, our costs have risen 68%. I can just imagine the hit the relatively small lift manufacturers are taking...

If you have any specific questions, let me know!

    Bob,

I think Lovettsville is near where I live. Man, I already forgot how to upload pics-- go to Showroom section and find my thread "You asked for it......." from about two weeks ago and look at the last pic of my lift. Rotary Lifts are what all the garages in Wincheser are using and I think they are as good or better than anything else. Skyline Oil sold and installed the lift and are local to service it if nec. Turn key = $4000. Great lift.

I have 2 Autolifters. One is about 10 years old and the other about 6 years.
They both have worked fine but I just had to replace one of the pully wheels the the cable runs through on the 10 year old model. It was made of a plastic type of material and fractured. They sent me a complete set of new steel pullies to replace it for free as a warantee item. The 6 year old model moves up alot quicker than the 10 year old model because of a different hydrolic unit but othewise they are the same.

    interesting link, LetsJet.

those lifts in that PDF are all c-channel lifts, unfortunately. they're also commercial-style, so i assume they're much more expensive. they also show light-duty storage in there though.

http://www.revolutionlifts.com/ is apparently a division of rotary that sells four-posters to the residential market. these are solid-post lifts (they're on my short list).

i'm confused as to why rotary would sell into the storage market via two brands and with different products.

    hmmm....

What really interested me is the option of two rolling jacks instead of using jack stands. Anyone have a 4 post with this option? Also my lift at the office has one side that slides so you can adjust to vehicle width. I don't see any residential lifts mention this feature. Is it because they all have it standard or is the width basically fixed?
