Aside from the 3665 GTC, I'm in search for a GT4 BB...
Mike, Since the car hurts you back and knees will you be selling it at a discount? Follow Newman's lead, look for a front engined V-12 GT!! Lots of fun and not painful to drive! Regards, Art S. edit: Just saw your profile, looks like you are already there!
I am not QUITE to the fire-sale stage yet But, if you were to catch me right after a tuning session, and you were to throw in some Demerol tabs, you might get a favorable deal. Yes, the Daytona, I can drive for hours without any problems. But, in the Boxer, the pedals are offset twords the center of the car. This forces me to sit at an odd angle, in the seat which really causes allot of pain in my lower back and knees. I have tried numerous positions, etc. To be fair to the car, I have bad knees to begin with. To a 'normal' person, this is probably a non-issue. When I bought the Boxer, it was mosly un-driveable. The clutch and linkage were in pretty bad shape. And the state of engine tune was 'less than optimum'. So, the only driving of the car I did before all the work ( 2 years worth ) was to drive it on and off of the trailer or the lift. I SHOULD have driven some other Boxers to get a feel for them. On the plus side, after all the work, the accelleratoin is enough to pull the fillings out of your teeth See work here: http://www.adidev.com/boxerproject I was pretty happy until it was time to put some actual driving time into it to tune the carbs. After about 20 minutes of driving the car, I could barely walk. I was hoping it was a one time thing. But, it has happened 3 times in a row now. I am considering welding up a custom swivel mount for the seat. So that it can be oriented at the same angle that is required to work the pedals. I am not sure is there is enough clearance behind the seat for that, though. Time will tell.
Dr. Mike, your car looks GREAT! Certainly one of my FAVORITE Ferrari's! Ever since I saw it for the first time on Sammy Hagars "I Can't Drive 55" music video back when I was a Freshman in college I have just LOVED those cars! We have a REALLY nice Red one here in Austin, but I have only seen it at the shop, I have never actually seen it on the road. Hope you can find a way to hang on to it AND enjoy it most importantly!
Ah yes, Mike, if I recall, that was a Shaughnessy Special... You did really beautiful work on the car. Since you can't drive it, put it in your living room as decoration - it's too nice to part with it now! Regards, Art S.
