Anyone with a 360 with Tubi/Test Pipes? It sounds awsome but lastnight some friends there were following me mentioned that everytime I shift (at night) there is some flames that come out of the exaust. It's pretty cool. BUT is that a bad thing?

Then it got me thinking the cats were probally there for a reason. I believe the cats burn up gases/fuel and keep the right amount of back pressure to the engine. Right now especially at low RPM's it's tough to keep the car smooth when taking off from a stop because the car keep congested. Once it clears up the power/throttle is a bit unpredictable. High RPM's/speed no probs.

The issues above is that the price we just have to pay to sound good? Just hope it won't cause issues or probs. If it does have a negative effect, might be time to put the cats back on...

My 355 with test pipes & tubi also had flames. This late display of the combustion is natural & will in no way will effect the engine or the exhaust system.

you won't break anything with it like that, but if it happens too often check around the body pieces where the exhast exits. A buddy of mine scortched the rear of his pretty good. I bet its sounds amazing, and looks awesome though!

I don't think it would harm the car, actully it seems pretty cool that you are shooting flames.

I have no idea what kind of test pipes they are. The CEL is not on.

Yesterday it was nice so I took her out for a spin and she was running like sh*t. Really congested almost like the car was coughing. Talked to the previous owner and he said every so often the ECU has to be reset. So poped the hood and shut off the main power switch. Let it sit for 5 minutes and then turned the power switch back on. Started her up and let her idle for 5 minutes and what a difference. The idle/tone/etc was unreal. Shifting was smooth and the sound was amazing. I guess without the cats the ECU self adjusts and just needs to be reset every so often.

I'm glad everyone feels that there will be no issues.

I'll try to get some pics.

Matt if you got a video that would be sweet if you can send it.

    Thanks for everyone's responses.

Is your car a Euro or US model? I'm asking because I am curious why your CEL is not on......

I have a CS w/ straight pipes & Tubi NGT. My CEL is on, but Shelton told me not to worry, it's on b/c of the exhaust.

It's a Euro. From what the previous owner said CEL used to be on but replacing a o2 sensor took care of that.

I know someone else who has a Euro, with straight pipes & Tubi, and his CEL is not on either. Perhaps it's just US cars that have the CEL due to emissions standards???

The EUROs no problem with CEL...Stay tuned I will be installing exhaust and pipes with o2 sims to treak the system into thinking there are cats....My RICER employees do this with the late model Hondas de cat....Works great!!!!

dunno about the emission policies in WA, but if your car was in Cali and a cop saw u shoot flames from your exhaust tips at night....

get ready to be pulled over.

shooting flames = no cats = violation of emissions

    5-0 could impound ur car.

    My old car guys.

I told she is a flame thrower. No damange is caused Wilson. You just have to clean the bumper with windex every week or so. Windex amazingly wipe it all away when most product doesn't.

The test pipes are Tubi test pipes with one of the first tubi's, the real loud one.

    Enjoy,

    Mike

    Mike,

Actually the rear bumper isn't getting dirty or getting dirty from what I see. More the exhaust tips need to be cleaned up.

Is there a easy way to get those tips clean/shiny?

You will notice that after awhile the bumper cause of the flames gets a black film, not dust but a film. Windex is the cure. I always cleaned my pipes right after with soap and water. Guys on this board will be able to tell you the write way.

    Mike
