    Hi all,

I've recently reacquired my old 02 Roma delivered 360 Spider which I brought over to the US and had converted to US spec. During my absence the car was not used much, so I''m addressing various items which need fixing.

One of the things that needs addressing is the roof, which doesn't go down all the way. The dealer currently working on it indicated that "the built in elastic straps have failed and therefore must be replaced however this is not a part sold separately which would require a complete top replacement" - the full top is around 8k, which seems overkill for a set of straps.

Does anyone have any experience in finding just the elastic straps to replace or other thoughts on how to fix the roof? I'm in the NY area.

    Thanks,

Most convertible top repair shops can replace the elastics. Unless the top materials are faded or worn, this is the most cost-effective solution.

Alexander: lots of discussion on this in the forum. The links mentioned above are helpful. But search for other threads as well. You should be able to get this sorted out. At the other extreme, I just had all seven hydraulic cylinders rebuilt. I hope you don’t need that any time soon! Congratulations on getting your spider back! That’s a good story in itself.

I also have a euro car and I am having the interior elastic repaired in early October. My symptom was that the top would not open fully and would jam unless I open the top to ~90 degrees, flip the small front bar back manually, and then finish closing the top which makes it operate fine. The quote that I received on it was pretty reasonable at an independent shop. Not sure what your timeline is but I can give you info on how mine ends up after it's done if that is helpful.

Good to know, I'm planning on installing this. Was it difficult?
