    Hello,

Ihave year 2000 F360 Modena with F1 transmission here in Finland.

I could not find any discussion what might be a problem when F1 pump primes only when turning ingnition on.

Car and transmission work excellently. No problem!

Dome light goes on when opening drivers door so it's not a switch issue.

Prime time is about 10sec when I turn key to position 2. So this is normal...

    Any ideas?!?

    Thanks in advance!

I assume that you that you mean the F1 pump doesn't start when you pull the door lever /handle..? Right?

If so, it could be the actuator/sensor in the door that is broken.
You can actually hear the actuator when you pull the lever; A tiny clicking sound (after which the pump starts).

Probably the actuator is broken or a loose cable...

I would check the f1 pumps fuse first, then the relay. If they are ok then its possible you need a new pump

Well the sensor is probaly fine, while pulling handle a little bit window goes done a little.

I will check Fuse and Relay. It still does not make sense, why the transmission and clutch work without any problem after the pressure is primed (ignition on) and car started.

Pump also does not keep pumping after I shutdown the engine, which would be a mark for broken or "welded" Relay. And also if the fuse is broken, it would not pump in any case...

The pump itself is also working as it should, as far I am aware how it should work. Only priming when opening door is missing.

The F1 pump only primes if the hydraulic pressure is tnot high enough, which is why the pump sometimes will not prime if you have benn driving, and soon after you open the door to get back in. Might be a pressure sensor issue.

Good idea, but it does not prime after night or after several days not driving...

Pressure sensor does not sound right, while the pump primes when I turn the key, and it stops after about 10sec. After that I can change to neutral normally and start the car...

As I wrote in my original message, I do have read messages concerning F1 pump in this forum. Also from several others and used Google etc.

I rarely write questions to forums, but this time I really cant find answer to this problem from www.

One thing I Haven't told You is that there is aftermarket alarm system in the car. I have to check if that makes pump unable to prime without ignition on or something...

sorry if I mislead ya. I miss read the first post. sounds like you have a connection issue in the door. maybe take the door panel off and look around in there

Did you always have this problem? Or did it just start now?

When my door latch acted up the priming stopped; however, as soon as I turn the key to position two where it checks and displays "Checks Ok" the F1 pump starts priming.

If it doesn't for you then it maybe a fuse or pump.

May I borrow this thread a bit and ask a stupid question:

Does the opened driver door keep the pump priming itself infinitely or is there some sort of time limit?

Few weeks back went onto my car intend to go a little Sat evening drive. Opened the door, pump started to prime, then my cell phone rang and I had to go back inside of my house for emails etc. Then I forgot that I had even been at my car so there she sat over 2 hours with driver door maybe 3 inch open.

When I realized this I went to my car and upon turning the ignition and waiting the "OK" at the screen the transmission light began to flash like for 3-5 sec. And when I pulled both paddles in order to get the gear onto N there was significant delay. Like another 3-5 sec.

So does it somehow harm the F1 system / pump IF drivers door is left open? Does the system keep a hydraulic pressure there infinitely by running pump at certain intervals. Or does it depend if its done before / after a drive?

No the computer will shut the pump after it reaches certain pressure, opening the door and key ignition to on will do this, but even with the car running the pump will prime to reach the desired pressure (hard to hear while the motor is running but it does it, my car does it every 3:30 minutes for a second).
