Hi, I want to change my exhaust but I don't know which one to buy: tubi, capristo, or maybe remus. I am looking for a very high pitch/F1 screaming sound. I heard there were some reliability problems with capristo. Tubi and capristo are around 2,500 GBP (5,000 USD) fitted with VAT, but Remus only 1,500 GBP (3,000 USD). I think I will go for a level 1, maybe a level 2. But what about the capristo twinsound with a electronic switch to go from level 1 to level 2 or 3 (I think). What are your thoughts? Thanks.
I started a thread awhile back about the Capistro's....the consensus was that yes the very early ones did have some problems, but all has been resolved. Most seem to have an issue with the installation, that is they are not installed far enough foward and once the heat up they do expand and rub on the rear frame by the challenge grill area. But if installed correctly it is not an issue at all. I must say.... that on my Stradale the Capistro is simply intoxicating!!! I can also say, it is a double edge sword, that is, when you get on the throttle every head in a 1 block radius will turn and look in disbelief!! Including the local law enforcement. So you do have to be very dilligent when lettin her loose! I love the Capistro L-3 and for the type of driving i do (weekend stuff) it is exactly the SHREIK i want out of my CS. good luck.
I was told Capristo no longer has the switchable exhaust availlable. Personally I think Tubi is the way to go. It is also a little more desirable on resale, since most Ferrari owners consider Tubi to be the standard for Ferrari exhaust upgrades.
i listened to tubi and capristo with/without cats at verdi in southall before making my choice. i chose capristo without cats, it has a lovely sound, but not like my brothers 355 with capristo, that really has the f1 scream. i have heard that the 360cs exhaust mimmicks this, but have yet to hear one. mine sounds brilliant anyway, and i love the popping and explosions on the overrun - it also sends out flames (so my brother informes me) on aggressive downshifts - my advice is to hear some, as oppinion is very much split on exhausts. i had a tubi on my 456, which was the best sound for that car, but for my 360, i think the capristo is the best sound.
I wouldn't do anything but Tubi. I find that it only accentuates the signature sound of a Ferrari rather than altering it in anyway as some of the other AM exhausts do.

Ive am on the same quest as you, looking change my stock system on my 360 spider with an very high pitch/F1 screaming sound Ive heard the Tubi, Capristo and Larini. Larini seems to have the exact high pitch/F1 sound. Capristo is a pretty close to Larini, however reliability seems to be in question. Tubi sound totally different than both, it is almost too muffled for my taste. Good luck
I would love to see a video/audio clip that shows a Ferrari with a Larini (or any other for that matter) exhaust that has more of an "F1-like" shriek than the video I posted with the CS with the Capristo Level 3.
From what I've heard in person we're on a decline as far as the ferrari engine note goes. The 355 was screaming, even with the relatively modest tubi. The 360, as wonderful as it was, always seemed just a tad short of that glorious shriek of its predecessor, even with Capristo L3 installed. The f430 is another step in the wrong direction for me. Even deeper and more growly, with tendencies towards muscle cars in the RPM mid-range. I have only heard a stock f430 in person, though, but it sounds a lot deeper, more masculine and dare I say less like a ferrari.. I don't know what ferrari is doing to their newer engines, but I'm not too happy with the way things are moving along. I have absolutely no knowledge of the inner mechanics of engines, but I have a feeling the increase of engine volume (from 3.5l to 3.6l to 4.3l) would also deepen the engine sound. I could be way off here, but it seems to make sense if you take the engine note history into consideration. Anyway, rumors has it that the f430 replacement model will have an extended RPM range (from 10K to 12K?). At one point ferrari were even considering 10-cylinders. So what's the trade-off here? Bigger engine volume = less shriek? Mechanics out there, what are the practical limitations to high reving engines? Why isn't it feasible to install a 3.0L V8 F1 engine with a max RPM at around 16000? Just wondering... More on topic: For a 360 (CS or reg) I would get a Kreis-Sieg or Capristo L3. Tubi is pretty dull sounding, imo. Larini sounds quite nice in some of the video clips I've seen, but alas I have yet to hear one in person. It seems like a nice compromise between the loud and crispy sound of Capristo and the darker howl of the Tubi.
The tubi sounds too bassy, too much like a trumpet for my taste in sound. I prefer F1 car rasp of the Capristo. I have a L1 fitted and it sounds fantastic, especially at the higher revs. I rev it just for fun! Test drive a capristo with test pipes and you'll never look back, its awesome.
You'll get as many varied opinions on exhaust systems as any other topic. I have a Stage II Tubi on my 360 and I love the sound. It's loud, but not screaming at me and I acutally like the resonance. I've heard a Capristo level III on a 360 and it is LOUD. If you're driving a Spider, I've heard this is NOT the way to go as the sound will simply wear you down. Good luck... Frank
Tubi is very high quality. I have a tubi on my 360 and had one on my 355 as well. On the 360, I also run the hyper flow cats. It's difficult to get that high pitched F1 sound from the 360, short of practically running an open exhaust. I have never been all that impressed with the construction of the Capristo exhausts myself. Tubi is very well made and comes with very nice hardware (clamps, etc.) The company stands behind the product 110% There are many posts on this subject, so a search may also help you narrow down which exhaust you want. You might also look into the Kreissieg exhausts. They come close to F1 sound. The following site has videos which sound quite a bit like F1. http://www.kreissieg-usa.com If you click here, I have some videos posted of my car running the tubi and hyper flow cats. However, the sound in the video doesn't come close to what the sound in person is. My car has a nice jet turbine sort of wine to it around town, which I like quite a bit. http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=ray5961 Ray
I was torn between the two. Listened to countless video clips and decided to go with a Tubi. People said the Capristo L3 was to too loud for a Spyder. Well I previously owned a 355 Spyder with a Tubi - incredible! Now I just bought a 360 Spyder 3 days ago and the dealership installed a used Tubi on it for me. Not even close to the 355 Tubi. I wanted a screaming loud rocket ship and ended up with a go cart. That's just my exaggerated opinion though! I will be changing to the Capristo L3 shortly. Although my car/Tubi sounds great in a parking garage at 2700 RPM's in 1st gear! I just need more scream. Put it this way, with the Tubi you can still have a conversation with someone in the passenger seat doing 80mph on the highway while in 4th gear. Not what I am looking for.
See.. this is what Im talking about The engine note on the 355 was brilliant regardless of exhaust installation really. Really raw and screaming. I dont know what happened with the 360 (and even worse, the f430) but it's going in the wrong direction! The kreis-sieg videos on their site aren't really representative of the real world. Granted, they do sound quite aggressive, but perhaps just a tad less harmonious. Still the pitch of the scream is limited to the sonic output of the engine in the first place, and the 360 just lacks that extra wail that the 355 and heck, even the 348 had (and the 348 didnt even rev as high! Go figure..). Being a musician I'm completely obsessed with the engine note of these wonderful cars, and to be honest it probably accounts for 80% of my interest in ferraris. The first time I heard the 355 I was completely captivated. I never figured they'd move away from that divine mechanical noise, so when I heard the 360 with tubi the first time I was unpleasantly surprised. It's not that it's not fantastic, because I think we all agree that it is, and it's obviously miles ahead of its competition.. it's just that I was hoping for more, not less, as the entry-level model advanced through the years. Hearing the f430 for the first time was actually quite disappointing. It seems even harder to get that beautiful wail from this new model than the 360. It may be a better car in every other aspect, but to me it is and has always been about the engine note.. I truly hope I am wrong, and that I've simply experienced less than ideal exhaust configurations on the f430. My hopes fade with every new encounter I have with the car, though. I would love to be proven wrong, but god.. just listen to this: 355 with capristo: http://youtube.com/watch?v=GrAyCgOQhjM 430 with stock: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w56TeN9ZnCg Not quite grounds for a direct A/B comparison, but still, it's enough to give you an idea of the general differences in the characteristics of these two engines.
Yes, thats a CS. You'll need the CS ecu mappings, valve timing and sports muffler to get anywhere close.
Kreissig exhuast!!!!!!!!!!!! If you can swing the $7k, the closest to the F1 sound out there, period!!!!! If no, then Tubi! Robert
Try this one. http://media.putfile.com/Ferrari-exhaust-demo First one is stock, second is Tubi, third is Cap level two. All cars are 99's.
Aside from the fact that it's a CS there were several aftermarket mods done to intake and exhaust system.
I put a Tubi NGT Exhaust with Hyperflow cats on my 360 spider its an amazing sound and plenty loud enough for non track driving.
