It's my understanding that if your ECU goes bad, a new one is not available anywhere! So what does a 360 owner do?? Can 360Trev repair them? Can they even be repaired? Just wondering!

Here in the UK at least there are a few places that claim to be able to repair them now (through trev perhaps). I suppose it depends how they've failed.

I have had it implied, reading messages from 360 owners in the UK recently, that they are periodically available from the factory. Does anyone have any more info on that?

On almost related matter, I'll order a pair of genuine Bosch MAFs (BOSCH 0 280 218 012) to sit in my storage shelf as they are still rather affordable (170€/pcs) and readily available. As these are Ferrari only parts I would expect the availability will be very limited in 5 or so years.

348 uses same MAF as e.g. Saab and still they are already unobtanium outside of one pair for sale by a forum member and China Inc. crap.

This is the type of thing I would do (and probably will) but are you sure they're Ferrari only? Most of the online parts stores in the UK say they're used by Honda cars too.

Interesting. The provider I ordered MAFs listed them as "Ferrari only" but after some Googling it seems that you are right.

    BOSCH 0 280 218 012
    FERRARI 000171707
    HONDA 16400-PDD-X00
    HONDA 16400-PFT-E00
    MG MHK 1010 70

Back to the topic of the thread, ECUs seems really be very much OEM specific. :(

At some point it may come to installing an aftermarket ECU, such as in the case here (no affiliation). That is, if you want to keep the car on the road.

I have 2 brand new Ferrari ECU's still in shrinkwrap that I bought a few years back. Plans were to get them programmed by Trev and keep the originals on the shelf. Still may do that but it's less of a priority than other things at the moment

It says outright sale, so makes it sound like you are purchasing either a new or good used unit.

I think it should be a used unit that's been refurbished.

Either way, i.e. new or used, are these two statements true?
I thought they were different L or R (Master/Slave) and F1 or Manual

Reason for asking, if I wanted to keep a backup unit, is one sufficient or do I need both?

They were provided unprogrammed and can be flashed for any 360 application.

A little update here... Don't give up hope guys!

I've been working hard to develop heavily customed firmware image which can control a Ferrari 360 engine but from a less rare hardware variant of the Bosch ECU from other marques (like Alfa Romeo's) which can still be picked up inexpensively.

This journey is no easy task as there significant hardware differences from even the closest match. However these can be accommodated for via some solutions similar to cat ecu's [just much more robust!] to provide the missing functionality back, the closest Bosch matches even run at different CPU clock speeds than the Ferrari ones so all the timing code needs adjustment ( a big effort ), watch this space, I am hopeful to a successful outcome soon.

Wiil they retain the same harness connectors and will they be accessible via SD2?

Please don’t take this as a facetious comment; it’s a naive question instead: why is it easier (or better?) to do that than to just use a third party ECU?
