I am sure this has been asked and answered but are there any advantages besides looks for changing to a rear challenge grill on a 360 Spider? I am on the fence about the look as well. Tour De France Blue. Thanks.
The little holes in the challenge grill allow for the engines heat to escape. Unless you heavily track it's not an issue other than preference in the looks department.
Search feature is your friend...lol I always wanted to say that! I was on the fence also but decided to keep it stock. My 360 black so that's my reason if I had a different color car then I would say yes to grill.
This picture was taken on a cloudy day, so the TdF color looks muted in this photo. Personally, I like the looks of the rear Challenge Grill on the 360. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Gorgeous cars! I like the Challenge grill because it breaks up the color, it also serves a functional purpose which is also a plus.
The correct term is 'Challenge look' grill, and it does indeed serve a useful purpose, which has been correctly stated as one that provides additional cooling. The 360 should have just come that way stock.
I agree with the above. The downside is that your engine compartment will get dirty, as the dirt gets sucked in through the same holes that allow better cooling. I have the painted panel and like the way it looks. I also like the way the Challenge grill looks. They're different, but both good looking.
I think It looks good and its serves a purpose. Here is a picture of my Nero Daytona 360 with a rear challenge grill. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
No need for justification or any form of reasoning. If it's on a higher spec model like the CS in this case, DO IT!
No doubt, put it on! Better cooling, better looking Sorry about the photo quality... Image Unavailable, Please Login
With or without the challenge grill the 360 modena is one of the best car design ever. The nice lines and the shape was really ahead of its time when it was launched a little over a decade ago. But for me the challenge grill is a must for the 360. I would only get 1 without it if only the deal is way way bellOw market value.
Personally, I only like the 360 with Challenge Grill... It is more racing looking, plus it reminds me of F40/F50 that you can see the engine through the grill... It makes the car look wider too... Also it is very important in warm climates...
One last benefit to the challenge grill, you can actually see through it when backing up, so as not to hit anything!
That's my thing. I think it would look particularly good on Giallo Modena, but I don't enjoy cleaning my engine. Not to mention the fact that if I start with one change, I'll end up starting to carbon up going for the full bumble bee.
A lot of great feedback...thanks much to all. I am leaning towards getting it but the cleaning issue I did not realize.
If you have a coupe, yes. Spider, not so much. That, so far, is what has kept me from changing mine to a Challenge grille. Nice thing about it is that it's actually a relatively easy job to convert it, and (for Ferrari) relatively inexpensive.
I don't have any cleaning issue with my challenge grille. The engine compartment gets very hot, after a drive my car warms up the whole garage. Can't imagine how hot it would be without it. I agree, it should have been standard issue.
One of the best upgrades you can do to a 360. No cleaning issue for me, just soap and water - will be problems if you try to polish, due ot all the holes. A must in a warm climate - also helps when reversing as you can see out the back better. Get it mate
