Been on a search for the perfect 360, you might have seen my ad in the FChat personals looking for one and thanks to a special member, I think I found the right car in British Colombia! I really wanted a Grigio color, 35k miles and obviously gated. Wanted the mid thirty K miles so that I didn’t feel bad about driving it.

Kissed a few frogs and did a couple ppi’s. The first was a car list on fchat, beautiful Grigio but couldn’t come to terms with certain issues. He wanted $84k but for $90 I could jump into a F430. Yes I know gated vs F1 but still that didn’t make sense.

The next car was a blue with tan, a ppi showed approx $24k in repairs to bring it back to where I wanted, well spent ppi I guess.

I finally found, as mentioned thanks to the help of a member a Rosso corsa, 36k miles a 2000 example and it’s just stunning. The car is very well documented with a binder of receipts (how all cars should come).

At first I wasn’t keen on the red as I am a more low key guy that plans on driving the car and didn’t want the attention of the red, but the more I looked at it, the more I checked out the pictures the more I fell in love. Black interior with red stitching closed the deal.

I have a deposit on the car. The car goes to ppi this week and if everything goes right, I’ll be driving her back from BC to LA. I’ll keep everyone posted.

    Fingers crossed for you.
Even after eight years, my Spider just keeps getting better.
    May you feel the same!

Congrats! When I bought mine my sweetie said to me "ANY COLOR BUT RED". Now, there isn't any color we'd prefer. :)

I too wanted a non-rosso car. My family in Italy were absolutely horrified at the thought.
I think drawing a mustache on a picture of the Pope would have been less offensive.

Now, like Curt, I can't imagine the Spider in anything other than red.

550nitis: When you asked for overall motor condition did you specify a compression test?
PPI will cost more (duh!) but the info will be priceless since the car is 18 years young

Since you are registering it in California, all Readiness Monitors have run and you have no Check Engine Light. Also, does it have OEM Cats? Does it have an Emissions Sticker valid for California, some have disappeared due to the glue not able to withstand the heat of the engine bay. Just make sure you can register the vehicle in California, do not take the word of the salesman (salesperson).

First thing I checked. All stickers are on the car. This car is in BC Canada, so very important to import back into the US.

I’d ask about dash leather shrinkage/wrinkling and sticky switches too. Both common problems.

Interesting you mention, when I took to the last PPI, the mechanic said that they dont recommend the compression test on this engine unless they felt it needed one and they could tell right away after a test drive if it granted a compression test. Unlike Classic Coach in NJ that said it must be done and therefore charged accordingly although the car didnt need one.

The compression test if for your knowledge and records and to make you more comfortable in your purchase so i dont agree with that mechanic at all

PPI delayed due to weather, guess its raining in BC. I told the seller, you know the car is water proof. They said they dont drive it in the rain. :(

I guess it’s understabdsble for a dealer not to want to drive a 360 in the rain but I’m a big believer that cars are driven in all weather, that’s the fun of driving!

That’s exactly the color combo I wanted originally.

In a surprising turn of events, the dealer doesn’t want to take the vehicle for a ppi, therefore canceling the transaction as no ppi= no car.

550 - smart move sir. there is a wide margin of extra expense for unknown/outstanding service items on these fine automobiles; )….. I would guess 10-30K on the extreme side. GL with your search.... don't fall in love until you strike the right deal...….
