I noticed on carfax that a lot of 355"s show one open recall, including mine. Why? I'm sure Ferrari doesnt honor them any more. Anyone know what recall a lot of people missed? Not sure why people didnt bring their cars in....it was free even

It's the fuel lines that need replacing. There is no expiry as far as I know on recalls. If you have a 355 and it's not done, make an appt. with the dealer and they will do it free of charge.

Mine will go in for the fuel recall in a week or two. Dealer fix and free of charge.

Although I am sure they will present me with a list of "other" stuff I need to do that is not under warranty. :)

Federal recalls must be complied with by the dealer, if not report them to the NHTSA.

But, as stated above, don't be surprised by collateral damage or errr, "extras" .

For the 355, isn't it merely the support clips that are installed to route the lines better on the fuel block? I didn't think they were changing the entire fuel line, but I could be mistaken..

There are two current recalls on the 355 (they do NOT expire), one on the fuel line support bracket, and one for the OBDII port:

On the bracket, the lines are not replaced, you get a new bracket/union, that repositions the lines, so no matter how the coolant hose clamp is oriented, it will not contact the ss braided fuel hoses and cut through them.

On the OBDII port, they add an ground wire that was intentionally left out, so you had to go to the dealer to scan for codes with SD2 or SD3. With the added ground wire, you can use any OBDII compliant scan tool. ;)

here are the recall letters ( 158 & 48) and details that I saved from past threads..
im bringing mine in as soon as weather permits.. to do the fuel divider block ( recall 48)

keep in mind recall 48, was not a "defect" read the discription.. it was more an upgrade/modification, to prevent possible fire issues..

as it seems just here, including me, there are plenty of cars running without recall 48 done with no issues..

PS: recall #158 pdf was too large to attach only #48 worked..

My 97 doesn't have the fuel block done yet either. I think the closest Ferrari dealership is about 600 miles from me so getting it done wouldn't be exactly free. I highly doubt it will get done in my tenure with the car.

about to head out to Ferrari Quebec dealer to get the fuel block recall done and an oil change..! also will pick up a set of their aftermarket shields..

as we know recall work is free of charge.. but any collateral damage or if something else breaks during the fix will be extra.. keeping my fingers

Since so few people use the card in the back of the warranty book to notify Ferrari of a change of ownership or address change Ferrari has no ability to get in touch with many.

There is no issue, if the hose clamp does not interfere with the fuel lines. If you can ensure it stays that way, then yes, there will be no issues. But each time the car has a major service or cooling service, there is a risk someone does not orient the hose clamp properly. These are old cars now, and newer service techs may not be familiar with the issues and concerns specific to the F355.

The fuel block issue is a recall. Ferrari can call it what they want. Cars repeatedly caught fire, and Ferrari refused to change the routing of the hoses, only issuing a recall letter that reminded dealers to ensure the hose clamp was oriented in such a way to avoid touching the fuel lines. The problem persisted, both outside and inside the Ferrari service network. There are threads here that go into the details of the lawsuit they lost after one customers car caught on fire and the owner was severely burned. They lost the suit, and realizing the previous letter was inadequate, then instituted the "upgrade".

If any F355 owners have not had the recall performed, you absolutely should.

Call your closest FNA dealer, and provide them with the VIN. They can check for all outstanding recalls, and schedule an appt. to perform them if needed.

A Carfax will usually have the Recall not done listed on it, it also (usually) indicates the car has NOT been to a Ferrari dealer since the recall notice.

Shortly after I bought mine, I got a letter from FNA. "Third Notice" in bold red at the top. Only Ferrari could get away with that lol (head shaking). Made me feel like I had done something wrong. I still need to get it taken care of, but the dealers are kind of far from me.

An independant shop that services Ferraris Did mine. It didn't go to a "Ferrari" Dealership you know not just a ferrari service center, so check around and see if anyone can do it for you that may be local? Do you have anyone local you trust?

if you get it done somewhere other then dealer you will have to pay parts/labour.
that's the whole point to do it at dealer at no charge.

I didn't do it, it was done years ago. But its listed as being completed by a independent Via Ferrari's vin check. I asked my closest dealer about it gave him the vin and he sent me a pdf with a list of all the recalls that had been done.

Just stating how my 95 was done.

I just had the Ferrari dealer take care of the fuel lines recall and when I got the car back I noticed that each time I drove the car from a stop position the engine was "struggling" a bit to go... Almost like I was short of fuel. I finally had to rev the engine a bit to not stall the car.
Did any of you experienced that problem?

Mine was one of the scarier ones I have seen.

    97 spider 6sp.

My car did not have the recall done when I got it and I could see that the hinges on the engine lid were in fact rubbing through the fuel line. Had it been left for much longer it would certainly result in a fire.

I ordered and paid for the parts myself because they were cheap and I did not want to drive the car anywhere till it was fixed.
