I'm not trying to make fun of whoever bought this, but I can't help but wonder....why?? I understand someone might love the 355 but not have the means to buy and maintain one, but this car went for $25,000. That is a lot of money! There a so many cars at that price point that are very very nice- newer cars like a used 335i convertible with sport package and 300hp, older cars like a clean 928 or SL500... a replica is always a replica- maybe if you wanted to have it for fun and it was $5K but $25K, no way! I don't think this car would even be fun to drive given the condition who knows how the internals/suspension are (ad says the interior "needs work") etc...I'd take a stock Fiero GT in excellent condition (and way cheaper) over this any day. Replica Kit Makes Fiero F1 F355 | eBay
My 355 is a kit car and I rather enjoy it. I began with a donor Fiero ashtray, and then added oem Ferrari parts all around it
No, it didn't. Look at the details on the supposed buyer - created specifically for the purpose of bidding $10k more than the only other bidder, on the last day of the auction.
I hope the friend he mentions in the write up that has a 355 and couldn't recognise this as a kit is not a member on here.
check this out..a kid got in trouble for making Bentley replicas..he sai F it I will build my own car and sell the kits must see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqKR7ZPeGko
the guy in the video spent a ton more money than needed. You could have a nice one for half what he spent
My brother works with a guy that has a kit car Fiero made to look like a Ferrari. My brother calls it the Fi-arri. LOL!!! The funniest part was his coworker actually asked him if I wanted to sell him the engine out of my 348???????? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!! What a moron!
A replica is like stuffing a rolled up sock down your trousers. It looks good from a distance but when the truth comes out people can't help laughing.
Indeed. Don't get them at all. I've spoken to owners whom have said part of the achievement is making them as close as possible to the real thing. I can, kind of grasp that. Then you get the... It's the same performance at a fraction of the cost and reliable to boot (MR2), variety.
Kitcars were big back in the early 90's. I think the reason was cars like Ferraris and Lambos back then were really though to buy. Smart poor car enthusiast bought 80's Porsches back then Not so smart people like myself sold them early when Ferraris became available at the right price Should have waited a little longer but I was always hungry eyes when it comes to cars. I missed out on a 1989 911 speedster for $35000 back in 2001. It needed a little work but what a wonderfull car. Instead I bought a 2001 M3. I am still kicking myself for that one.
I wonder if anyone would ever have the balls to show up at a Ferrari meet or drive with a replica. I was at a charity car show last week showing my 348, a kid walks up to me and goes "Man, I'm glad I'm not the only one here with an Exotic" then proceeds to shake my hand. I asked him what he drove in and he said "A nicely tuned 2014 Toyota FRS." Being the nice guy I am, I just replied "Oh ok, nice!" LMAO!!!
So you think the 348/355's are what exactly? - Ordinary, regular, run of the mill, everyday cars? It's your thought that they are nothing special? - That they're somehow the Italian equivalent of a Pontiac Fiero? I only own a lowly Ferrari 348, but I can tell you from personal experience that everybody, and I mean absolutely everyone who knows that I own it, are mesmerised that I own a Ferrari! I've said it before and I'll say it again, when people find out that I've got a Ferrari, they react as though they've found out I own the winged horse Pegasus! When I'm out and about driving the car, people turn and look, almost in disbelief that they're looking at a real Ferrari. I've had people take pictures of it whilst in traffic (including one guy who was walking between two lanes of moving traffic to get a picture of it!), I've had people film it as I drive by, I've had people ask if they can have their picture taken next to it! - That's not bad for a 25 year old car that you think is not exotic! Now I seriously doubt that anyone driving a "The fast and the pathetic" wannabe Toyota FRS drift car special, will ever have that happen to them. Why? - Because it's nothing that special! It's just Toyota's modern day equivalent of Mazda's RX8, and nobody ever risked walking in live traffic just to get a picture of one of those! A 348/355 not exotic? - You'd better start a campaign to try to convince Joe Public, because based on the reaction I get to My 348, hardly any of them agree with you!
We had a guy show up in a 250 California Spyder replica last year on our July 4th parade drive. Not knowing much about the older cars, it passed muster with most like myself and was only revealed as a replica at the end of the day. I'm sure others who are more knowledgeable about classic models would have spotted it immediately, but it seemed to be a fantastic knock off... similar to Shelby Cobra "kits", I'm assuming. But, that said... when it was all said and done I found it kinda lame. Showing up, mingling and parading under the guise that you're driving a rare, expensive classic when it's really just a knockoff.
well look what I found on ebay today. Replica Kit Makes 2 Door Coupe | eBay $105k buy it now price? hmmm, dunno about that
