    In the James Bond film Goldeneye, right after the opening credits and song, there is a race between James driving his sweet Aston Martin, and the to-be villainess in the movie. A couple of things: At one point the Aston is pulling on the 355, could that happen? I think the Aston is the DB5, and I wouldn't think that a modern Ferrari would be pulled on, and passed by a older Aston. Other thing, anyone know what happened to that car? (the 355 I mean, not the DB5, apparantly it was just stolen). Anyways, if you have the movie, check out the drive, or youtube it. Really two great cars being driven like they should.

    First off, the scene showing the DB5 keeping up with the 355 GTS only happens in the movies! What you may not be aware of is while filming the 355 had a nasty shunt that required expensive body work. Ferrari agreed to cover the tab if the 355 GTS won the race!

    I thought something looked odd with one of the shifts but the sound and look of the car and the driver distracted me :)

    does anyone know the serial of the golden eye car?

    Edit: I believe there are 2 cars in the Goldeneye movie. The one inthe chase has a tan interior, then he sees the car again at the casino and I believe it has a black interior.

    thanks for the youtube link! its a cool video, and even if the DB5 is slower (prepare to be flamed...), I think might even prefer to have one of those, especially if I could get it with all the Bond gadgets...

    Lol. I hadn't noticed in the film. A useful trick to slow down on fast mountain pass roads. **

    You could buy a small fleet of 355s for the price of a DB5, so not a bad decision.




    ** Just send a truck back later to pick up the differential.

    Yes...£100.000 - 150.000 for a restored one....but it's an old and ugly car, with an ugly engine sound when compared to a 355.
    The lady of the 355 was prettier too!

    The Goldeneye 355 was for sale about two years ago . If I remember it was missing the drive train and sold on eBay. I'll bet if you do a search and poke around you'll find the info you're looking for.

    I tend to agree with you. I like the tradition and workmanship behind the DB5, but the 355 is a better looking and sounding car.

    And of course when you have Xenia Onatopp driving...

    Correct, also when she downshifts the interior is black not tan like when she's driving lol.

    Also note that they swap in a male stunt driver with a black long hair wig in the spin scene. There was an old thread that mentioned this. Have to do slow-mo and look closely.
