    Morning,
    thanks for the confirmation.

sorry never even got a chance to reply, got an email over night offering 1400 euros for the wheel, which i accepted.

The 355 is stored away for winter, it will hopefully be out in the next month, having the rear buttress cracks repaired and painted and a few other bits of road rash, so it will be all ready for the better weather, can't wait.

    cheers Mark

    Hi
So the sale of my 348 steering wheel above fell through, after talking to the buyer he really wanted the 360 steering wheel setup the same as I pictured above, lucky for him I had a complete spare 360 wheel with airbag, a fair bit more expensive but he went for it, paid and posted.

So the 348 steering wheel above is still available.

    cheers

    HI,
just getting some questions about the 348 steering wheel, as above I have been told it will fit a 355, but does it need any modification or a different boss, or is it just a straight plug and play fit / straight replacement?

I know a 360 wheel is a straight fit onto a 355, and also I have seen a 360 wheel fitted onto a 348 - so by default the 348 wheel is a straight fit onto the 355?

    many thanks for any help
    Mark

I put a 348 wheel on my 355. I love this change. The first gen airbag wheel is just too big and heavy. The car feels more athletic with the smaller wheel. Getting rid of a 20+ year old Italian airbag from in front of me was a bonus.

Easy to find 348 wheels on eBay. Adaptor from Hill.

The factory airbag steering wheel is probably the least attractive aesthetic part of the car.

well as this thread inspired me to "update" my 355 with a 348 wheel, I am now a happy owner of the 348 wheel. Thanks Mark!

I am wondering if the factory 348 "hub" (or whats it called?) which came with it needs to be taken off and the Hill adapter assembled that way? Or should I keep that factory "hub" on?

This is the Hill adapter. One wrinkle I ran into is that you need a small resistor to span the prongs in the oem cable that plugs into the now missing oem airbag. Without that resistor you will get an airbag fault light. If the power is turned on before that's in place, the airbag light will illuminate and not reset itself and you will need to take it to someone with the reset computer. It's not a problem to drive the car, its just that the light will be on. I'll try to re-look up the proper resister spec and post that.

Removing the bulb won't warn you if your passenger airbag becomes faulty. Do you want to risk that?

A 25 year old airbag is not what I would count on to save my life...

Not to be a wet blanket on the air bag thing, but what're the implications if you get in an accident and your insurance company finds out that you removed or disabled the air bag - regardless of the air bag's age? I hate the 90's mini van look of the oem 355 steering wheel, but it just seems like too easy of an excuse for an insurance co to not pay out. I don't know the answers to any of this. Just raising the question.

Part of this was discussed about child seats and turning off the passenger airbag.

I'm not going to lose sleep over either airbag or their deletion. They were not included on the first 94 designed cars...

Same one I have :). Should be the exact same one used in the 288 GTO. I have a spare for sale if anyone is interested.
