More likely HR Owen in South Kensington.

There can only be so many in that spec sold and registered in that year.

    Will check the records.

It is very likely to be 03780.

Sold new to Gerald Ronson, who was the owner of HR Owens.

It will do some more work on this.

Anyone got any other thoughts ?

Thanks Mark, I'd really like to confirm the chassis and build numbers and then close the file. It feels like an unfinished story to me.

I have been and checked the Maranello Concessionaires Archive today but still can not actually connect the registration number to chassis #03780.

    However here is my thinking:

In order to be registered on a 'K' UK registration it must have been registered here between 1 August 1971 and 31 July 1972. Fact.

I have used the Dino Compendium and Welcome to the Dinoregister for this research. The first RHD Spyder apprears to be #03688, built in March 1972. The Dino Register, whose information comes from Keith Bluemel, who got got it from The Maranello Archive, says the car was Grigio Argento/Blue vinyl. So not this car.

The following further cars were built before the Factory holiday in August of 1972:

    03734 - red/black vinyl. March 72
03780 - Azzuro blue/black vinyl. New to Ronson expalining the Central London registration number. April 72
    03828 - yellow/black vinyl - also new to Ronson. April 72
    03862 - silver/red leather new via Sytner. April 72.
    03896 - chiaro blue/blac vinyl. Maranrello Demo. May 72
03936 - blue met Dino/black vinyl. New to Ian Anthony, Manchester. April 72.
03986 - chiaro blue/black vinyl. Also new to Ian Anthony. May 72
    04068 - red/black vinyl. New via Dick Lovett's. May 72.
04070 - azzuro blue/black leather. Sold new to Michael Pearson. May 72
    04074 - silver/black & red vinyl. Sold new by Maranellos. May 72
    04150 - rosso Dino/beige vinyl. June 72.
04160 - celeste blue/black vinyl. New to Jersey, Channel Islands. June 72
    04186 - rosso cordoba/black vinyl.
    04344 - red/black vinyl. New to Sytner. June 72
04346 - yellow/black leather. New to Alan Brown Racing. June 72
04354 - rosso rubino/black vinyl. New to Ian Anthony. June 72
    04414 - red/black vinyl. June 72.
    04434 - red/black vinyl. June 72
04522 - rosso rubino/beige leather. Sources disagree on GT or GTS. July 72
    04548 - blue met Dino/tan leather. July 72
04550 - blue scuro/tan leather. New to HR Owen. July 72
    04602 - blue chiaro/black vinyl. New to Dick Lovett's. July 72
    04634 - germoglio green/black vinyl. July 72
    04656 - red/black vinyl. New to sytner. July 72

Then the Factory were on holiday, so no other cars than those listed above can be registered on a 'K' plate.

I maintain that your old, stolen car was 03780.

I willl check with the factory to see if they have this car down as stolen.

you may want to negotiate the purchase of the title from the insurance company if you find the car is still in your country with the title in hand it would likely be yours for the taking using of course the old police report etc...I remember the story of a car I think it was a 1930 something mercedes that was stolen in I believe france back in the 30s and the car became a well known show car worth millions of dollars and was brought back to France to sell at auction the car was confiscated and returned to the real owner the moment it landed in france at presumable a loss of millions to the owner that was selling . I do not know what ever happen to that car this was just in the last 3 or 4 years....
So find out your VIN and if you kind find the car you may get it. I think it would have to be in the country to enforce it..
    Best of luck

Well stated. It's all about the "true owner".

I have written to the insurance company in the UK on a couple of occasions, files have been moved around in the years since.
I do not hold out any hope of finding the car in one piece. probably morphed into something else along time ago.
I had not though of buying the title back, and thank you for that suggestion.

    Hello all.
There is an update to this story.
It seems my car 03780, may have received a new chassis number and brought back in the UK, obviously with forged papers. A personalized registration number was issued. Later in its life it may have been issued with another registration. It may have found its way into the hands of a well known dealer, who may have handled the sale on two occasions. It is possible that the car carrying the false chassis number at some point received a alloy body, painted black and shipped overseas.
The owner of the borrowed chassis number became aware that another Dino was using his number and contact me. Well known Dino experts are of the opinion that this is indeed the story of my car.
I plan to expand on this story. I would appreciate input from those who have relevant knowledge.

02370 is a LHD car with a known documented history. That number was used on my stolen RHD 03780. That is the very likely scenario

    You mean 07230 (not 02370, transposed #).

So is RAU 902M really 03780 or is it the real 07230?

    Thank you for the info.
The whole RAU902M thing is a fraud, claims chassis number 07230 this is impossible, as stated above, the real 07230 is with its owner and is a LHD chassis.
Not, RHD as the fake RAU9082M is.

I am in contact with UK DVLA, they are interested to know where LYH131K records are, it was reported Stolen in 1978 (not 1975),
