What exactly is windshield delamination and is this common on 348's?

Good question. The windshield is made of laminated glass, which has two layers of glass with a film between them. When broken, it is designed to stay largely intact without producing sharp edges. If it becomes "delaminated", the glass has gaps inside the layers that produce the fogging effect, almost always along an edge. As far as I know, it can't be corrected. On the 348, I have not heard that windshield delamination is a chronic problem, but the rear windows have been known to suffer, probably because of the tight bends in the glass.

The door glass is safety glass, which is designed to shatter into small pieces upon impact. Not layered. No delamination effect.

A windshield is two pieces of glass with a sheet of plastic in between, all glued together. Delamination is when they start to seperate, usually at the edge. It looks like a jellyfish has gotten between the layers. Ferrari's have had this problem for many years, more common in some era's than others. It is usually just a cosmetic issue, if it doesn't bother you fine, otherwise replacement of the windshield is in order.

Couldn't some one make some small thin clips to keep the edges of the windscreen clamped together? I've heard wiping the edge of the glass sandwich with sealant may prevent the delamination though I'm pretty skeptical that would work.

same thing is happening to my 348 windshield, lower right hand corner, about 1/2 in by 2 in, it was there when i bought the car and its not getting any worse so im not to worried, if the previous owner wouldnt have pointed it out i never would have spotted it
