Back in the 70's, jacking the arse end of cars right up in the air was thought to be the best look, but the reality was that the cars drove like s:censored:t as all of the cars geometry was so messed up! Whilst 19's won't mess up your geometry, they will make the ride more crashy. As I say, My Ferrari is more about the going than the showing!
Unless you track your car or put a lot of miles then it's about show . When I went from 17 to 19 my car rode and handled much better, like on rails. The wheels the full the wheel well and to edge of body is more modern look
When it really comes down to it, the answer is subjective - in regards to looks at least. (Coke or Pepsi?) Sure, an 18" wheel will most likely be lighter then a 19", thus resulting in less rotating mass and giving the car the ability to accelerate faster - BUT will this REALLY be noticeable in a street car? Any properly fit wheel will look good on your car, but personally I would be leaning towards a 19" wheel.
Agreed that it is completely subjective. So there you have it Ron (OP), survey says 18 for performance and track 19 for street and looks
Can't agree with this at all! Maybe if all you do with your car is drive around town or tootle along at 40 mph everywhere then it's all about "show". I don't put a lot of miles on My car as such but when I do drive it, it's got nothing to with "show", I drive My car as Ferrari intended (I don't race the nuts off it but by the same token, I don't hang around for everyone else to see Me in the car either). The car is already quite stiff on the factory 17" wheels and with UK roads they way they are, I'd hate to think what it would be like on 19's (or how long the car would hold together! - Some of our roads really are that bad! )
Ah, a Brit...for England 18s all the way...English road are only a step from NyC roads. The bigger wheels are as bad as you may think. If you are a true driver, you will definitely feel a difference with wider wheels Most owners dont their cars hard or put many miles so to me its about show Ferrari is a thing of beauty so better looking wheel will only improve looks. I've noticed that factory Ferrari wheels look better on other models. 348 on Mondial 355/360 on 348 430 on 360 ...go figure
2nd. I have seen a noticeable difference in ride quality by switching from 18s to 19s. End of the day I went back to 18s.
19's generally gives the car a tougher look and perhaps a wider stance. 18's give the car a sleeker look. If you want to tighten up the look, you'll need to lower the car and minimize the gaps. Tire selection on 18's matter as well. On the 348/355, you can't go with low profile tires or the car will look loose and floaty. If I chose a silver wheel or a colored wheel, I'd probably lean towards 19's. When an 18 inch colored wheel stands out too much from the tire, more often than not, it looks small from certain angles. For 18s i prefer a dark wheel. Blends in with the tires somewhat, which helps it look larger than it really is. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Or you can get 19 inch step lip wherls where the spokes don't look too big to maintain that sleek look. 19 inch step lip Work Meisters. Image Unavailable, Please Login
If the wheels are black , does size or design matter ? To me it just looks like a nondescript black hole . It looks no different than black steel wheels that are missing their hubcaps I have a mercedes that has a temporary spare in the trunk that looks just like those .imho 1994 ferrari 348 spider , third owner purchased may 2013 w/ 27804 miles
Design does matter. Maybe size not so much. I can certainly tell the difference between ugly black wheels and some nice ones . You can still see enough of the wheel and spoke pattern to tell if it compliments the car or not. Not all black wheels look the same if that's what youre suggesting . Image Unavailable, Please Login
I cant , must be my eyes , but from more than 10 feet away , they all look alike 1994 ferrari 348 spider , third owner purchased may 2013 w/ 27804 miles
18's look much more proportional to my eye, 19's with rubber band sidewalls don't look right. I would also stick with ferrari rims as many of the aftermarket rims look gaudy and out of place, like they belong on a metallic wrapped lambo...especially those awful chrome rims with the fat lip. That's something I'd expect to see on a rapper's Bentley, not a classic ferrari.

I have seen this on Instagram - I Think these wheels gives the 348 an aggressive look - wonder how big they are? However I would not go higher than the 18" 355-wheels that are at my 348 now Image Unavailable, Please Login
Had 19s on the 355. Bumped, Rubbed, Drove crappy. Putting the 18s back on was like watching an ex girlfriend come back through the door a half hour after walking out!
