on my way home last night and a newer supra was next to me at a traffic light, well you guessed it !, he wanted to race, well i couldnt back down. the light turned green, i was red lining my 348 through each gear, and was at 110 mph in a blink of an eye and beating him, i heard this loud sound like a wind tunnel the next thing i know hes passing me like i had hit the brakes !! what the f--- , well he had nos. the bottom line is this, i felt like a shmuck !! im sure he went home and bragged about how he had beat a ferrari. very frustrating........... imitation horse power = cheating, in my opinion..

I agree. He needed nos to beat you. These guys kill me. At least he didn't want to race starting at 40 mph.

No big deal. You still have a Ferrari and besides those things are fast right out of the box and you can make them REAL fast with some mods. I had the same thing happen to me execpt I just have a 308 and it was like an early 90s supra. He went blowing past me and you could smell the nitros. It was still fun and I would not trade my 308 for it even though it will blow me away every day of the week and twice on sunday.

hp is hp. Personally I prefer the power to always be on, so I added a supercharger to my QV and have about 520hp. There is a guy who post here with a 348TT that is about the same, and rumor is the car coming for sale.....and you can always add NOS too just for good measure :)

The wind tunnel sound could have been a turbo or two...

Did he tell you he had nitrous?

I think you heard the turbo's (or turbo if he went single). They may have been what you heard. The reason you killed him in the begining might have been due to his turbo lag. A huge single turbo would take time to spool. If you've seen a dyno of a large single turbo supra...you'd know what i'm talking about. That and 93+ Supra's are known to be highway monster with killer top-ends with only a few modifications. Modified ones seem to do really well in high-speeds and roll-races. 100+mph is their sweet spot.

He may have had nitrous too, but there is a possibility that he didn't.

Toyota Supra Twin Turbo's are not cars to be taken lightly. Even the naturally aspirated models. They've been known to leave high-horsepower Vipers, Corvette's, Lambo's, etc. in the dust. And, you should know not to race your Ferrari from a stoplight. Your not driving a Lamborghini you know! Ferrari's just dont make good drag cars. Never have, never will.

doug, you are right, but i could not resist, i thought i could take him, i guess i got a little cocky. and whats really worse than that is, i had some hot chick in the car with me, she wanted to go for a ride, and i embarrased myself and the ferrai. she kicked me in the balls after that and called the car a pu%%y, or was that me ?? naaaaa, the chick was in the car though and was a little disapointed. are you serious about the supras beating lambos and vets ?? thats pretty wild !!!

Well a stock Supra TT would leave you about a second behind in the 0-60 race given equal drivers. I don't think it's a bad thing you lost, frankly, I wouldn't have bet on you winning.

There are numerous supras that could out gun an Enzo in a straight line. But its never all about speed when your driving, its the whole experience. I mean for the money a Z06 is pretty much all the car anyone would ever need performance wise, but driving isn't always about performance figures.

Wrong.... Supras can be very, very evil indeed. Without the spray. There are numerous 700-800whp Supras out there without nitrous. Close to stock 348's are low 14sec 1/4 cars at best. I've handed out a couple of spankings on 348's, and have gotten my arse handed to me on a popsicle stick by a few Supras. At the track of course. Nothing to be ashamed of.

On a more important note...To the drivers... STOP RACING ON THE F'N STREET!!!!!!!!!!!! Street racing is for wussies too afraid to F*&k up and look stupid at the track. Obviously no one you know has ever been killed or affected by jerk-off street racers. I, unfortunately , lost a friend a few years ago who was just an innocent by-stander.

Yeah, I've seen videos of Diablo SV's and even blown Lambo's getting eaten by Supra's. Once you get above 100mph in a Supra, watch out...because thats where they really begin to shine.

It fast. It's very fast. Cruising down the highway, drop it in 3rd and it lights up the titres and will keep them spinning to redline at about 90mph. It has more torque at idle than the stock engine did anywhere. It's a big change. It cost me about $8000 in parts and 250 hours of my time to build.

The graph is reat wheel power.

There are some Supras out there that will eat just about anything for breakfast, then come out at lunchtime, looking for more...

The whole "at the end of the day, you went home in a Ferrari" attitude seems a little elitist to me... After all, he did beat you, with or without a turbo or nitrous and he went home in something a lot cheaper than a 348... i'd take a 348 over ANY Supra, ANY day, but it seems a little snobbish to say that a Supra is "just" a Supra... Just my two cents...

You can beat those guys with your top speed... But if there is no road to reach top speed, don't race them. We can never put those things to destroy our Ferrari. But if you want to get to their level and race 0to60 with them, prepare to cry. They are the 1/4 mile gearing prepare. Even the 360 will never get close to them........ All you got left to be proud of might be the price you paid for your car.
I raced with the Nissan Skyline twin turbos once. I was in my Lotus Esprit. We were neck to neck until we got to 160mph that when I pulled out away from the Skyline. I reached 175mph and he was way behide...

Carbon I completely agree with you! Wow what a day huh? First it was that women can afford their own Ferraris, in the So Cal Stradale thread, and now I am agreeing with you? I should check whats been in my food lately!

I always used to love the humility on the board and how people were really into cars in general, and had respect for many things. That is what differentiated it from other boards, and made the place great. However, lately it seems like the members are turning elitist and snobbish by the dozen. I mean a few pictures by one member about his Prada key ring was understable and we could chalk it up to lack of class, but more and more members playing the elitist game? Getting a little old, it seems to me.

Yes, Terry did go on to qualify that statement. Ryan is being a wanker.

In the race against a turbo Supra, you would have known there was a turbo involved by the induction noise in 1st gear and 2nd gear. Chances are the car was a stock twin turbo or only lightly modded with spray if it was being driven hard and then suddenly came from behind as you said.

Supra TT is a low 13 sec car from the factory so even a stock TT would have beaten your 348 let alone a Single Turbo. It only takes $2000 for a Supra TT to go from Factory 320 hp to well over 500 hp with 1/4 mile coming up in mid 12's,fast for any car out on the road.
Now for $8000 you can get a very reliable small single turbo which will give you easy 550rwhp/500 rwtq good for mid 11's in the 1/4.I have numerous friends who have high hp TT ( 700 to 850 RWHP with absolute no NOS ) that would only race 1000 cc and above bikes as cars are not a challenge for them any more.
I currently have a 420 RWHP Supra TT that i sometimes want to sell for an F-355 but i am reluctant to pull the plug as i know i won't be happy with low torque numbers on the 355.I guess once you have driven a torquey ( spell ? ) motor it's hard to go back to any thing less and to satisfy me i would have to have atleast 450 ft/lbs tq at the wheels.
