A lot has been said on- and off-line about the 348 vs. F355 argument. Some are subjective (design, driving experience, etc.), others more objective (300 vs. 380hp, 5 vs. 6 gears, etc.). Some comparisons are questionable (is a OEM 348 sans spacers a fair benchmark or is a highly modified SS a modification too far?) etc.

One area that remains to be clarified is whether the F355 is truly significantly lighter as Ferrari officially claims? I've seen seen on-line specifications indicating that the F355 is 40-60 kgs lighter than the 348tb but as No Doubt pointed out (http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=136038250&postcount=7), from everything we know about the two cars, it's hard to imagine such a difference exists (ok, so the Mg wheels are about 5kgs lighter per corner).

Could someone just weigh a standard stock F355 and a similar comparable 348 and settle this argument once and for all?

Surely someone here has access to both cars and a set of corner scales (don't look at me - I live in a condo unit with nary a wall outlet to plug in a trickle charger)

No further discussion on this post required. Just go measure and report back.

I've got a set of Lakewood Scales. I can weigh my 355 spider and see if the Ferrari shop in LA has a 348 Spider or someone can bring theirs in and we can weigh it there and then.

Cool! Thanks for coming forward. Perhaps a Berlinetta and a tb would also like to participate since the 348 Spider top is manual vs. the auto F355 top (just trying to reduce the variables here). Don't Ferraris grow on trees in La La Land?
