What tires are you running on your 348?
235/35-19 front 285/30-19 rear. And if you mean what brand, Dunlop Sport Maxx. ___________________ Samy
I think you mean what kind of brand on the OE wheels ? I have the Pirelli P700 and I cannot say that I like them. I had the same tires on my Boxster S 3.2, didn't like them there neither. They simply don't offer enough grip in the fast corners, no matter hot or cold. Sliding a lot of times.. I saw at a friends car that Continental Sport Contact also makes our terrible tire size of 255/45-17. Now that are awesome tires, believe me. I had them on my Audi TT and A4 turbo, also just recently a new set mounted as Sport Contact 2. Let me send you the German tests of all the big tires brands, they are the **** ! But... just my opinion. And I drive only 100.000 km's a year with a lot of it on the german Autobahn.
Yes, I'm looking for OE's. Most of the 348's I'm looking at are due for tires so I'm trying to figure out what works
I dont know much about rims. What is the difference between 1 piece, 2 piece, 3 piece forged rims? I think I can figure out the forged part. Do Ferrari's have to have one piece forged rims? What is the benefit? I see sets of really nice rims for 1/2 the price of the rims that everyone seems to get for their cars. Am I missing something? Refer to line 1; I DONT KNOW JACK SQUAT ABOUT RIMS.
My Sumitomo's are absolutely horrible on track. Impossible to build heat; very very hard compound. -d
I run 355 rims with BFGoodrich KD's 225/40-18 275/40-18 on the street and on the wet track but am switching to Yokohama Advan A048's this year after I eat my current set.
TireRack is giving those Kumho's away at a mere $96 each: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes.jsp?make=Kumho&model=ECSTA+Supra+712 The only complaint about them seems to be road noise.
Pirelli P Zero stock sizes. Can't say I really like them except that they make almost no noise when sliding (so as not to attract too much attention). I have heard good things about the Kumho and Michelin PS2. BT
I got experience with many tires due to customer cars. And i got that conclusion : Garbage or not worth the money: Firestone Barum Nangkang Khumo Marshall Avon Semperit Avarage : Falken Goodyear Pirelli Hankook Ventus Sport Good: Michelin SP Dunlop Sportmaxx , not SP9000 to hard compound Bridgestone Pole Position 02 + 03 Continental Sport Contact Much traction for straights not for the track less durability : Toyo (cheap) Yokohama (cheap) MickeyThompson (Drag) Hoosier (Drag) Superrior sommer street, track: Bridgestone RE540 + RE55 Toyo 888 _____________________ Samy
Wow... that's 2cm on the front and 4 cm on the rear tires extra... Do you still feel the same performance ??? I mean, I upgraded my late Boxster S from the 17" 205 -255 to the 18" 225 - 265 size and my car felt like it had lost 20 hp due to the extra drag of the rubber on the street.. (OE Turbo rims with same % of hight)
Reviving this post to preserve the above. Does anyone have the latest and greatest in tires for the stock wheels of a 348 (mine's a spider) in 2020? I would love to just close my eyes and buy the best Michelins but Michelin doesn't even have a tire for the rear; so they say. This is the most important part of the whole car for me. So with that, what do we like these days? Thanks in advance. BONUS- would anyone have the exact sizes with offsets of the Challenge wheels?
Running a 1995 348 Spider with OEM sized Continental Extreme Contact DW’s for the past eight years and love’em. Will be trying a set of Pirelli P zero’s when the current Conti’s die as i really dig them on my Audi RS3.
At 8 years; your tires are dead. 5 year life on tires. for lates see this thread; discussed recently https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/what-tires-tire-rack-has-limited-options.623610/
I have Continental Extreme Contact DW’s on my stock wheels. But I have a set of 18" Competiziones that I am running BF Goodrich G-Force Sport Comp2, front 225/40-R18, rear 265/40-R18
Hi Chuck, I was looking at your car in another thread, is it stock height? I have 18s on mine and am considering the same size BF Goodrich tires.
