Nice looking car! I've got the same colour combination on my Triumph. I've just brought it and decided to leave it until I'll finish bodywork on a 348. Rear brakes are not working, fuel running through the corroded holes in a tank and so on.

That's an awesome project, Evgeny! I'm also starting a 348 restoration project, I bought this one a while ago:

    http://www.easyexport.us/carfinder/vehicle/21082262

The car being shipped to Finland at the moment, I'm located in Helsinki so we are almost neighbors, hehe. If you have any advice where to source parts from I'd really appreciate it! As you can see in the pics there is need for some :)

Your list is pretty good as far as the engine goes. However, since you may already have the engine out of the car you may as well do some other proactive things, and they are:

Triple seals on the out put shaft for the clutch.

The outer bearings on both sides of the gearbox, ESPECIALLY the oil pump bearing. It is a known failure point for the gear box.

Clean out the idle air control valves.

If your battery is located in the rear of the engine bay, replace the bullet connectors for the battery with solid cables.

At the heater-air conditioning unit, replace the recirculation boss with the part made by Hill Engineering. Also upgrade the fuse on the side of the heater unit to a bigger audio style fuse.

But too much crashed 348's around... will try to investigate something about this car.
Thanks a lot Ernie. Will add all this to my list.

    I'm glad you've asked.
There was a pause in this process with no particular reason just a way of things going. But couple of days ago we started to disassemble car for spraying. Now all the glasses one by one are taken out. Bad news rear screen is busted. Am I right that it should be made of lexan? Mine is made of triplex, I think someone have already changed it once.
So what thickness do I need? Any good suppliers? I don't think I even want to look at OEM one cause of it's price. I found this one in google: http://www.lexan-windows.com/ferrari-348-lexan-rear-screen.html. Any feedback?
BTW, should we have vin on a rear screen? I've got it on every other glass.

I don't think he was planning to restore that one, he was probably interested in it for the parts in order to restore the one he's working on...

Well, I'm glad that you didn't forget about me. ;) We were visiting my mother in law in Florida showing a grandson to her and then went snowboarding to Aspen so it took us 3 weeks all together. When we came back 3 weeks absence at work fell on me immediately
and I had no chance to write anything.

Wow, everything happend so fast that I even couldn't manage to do anything. ;) Actually I've ordered rear lexan screen from company in UK I've posted above so now waiting for it being produced. Will write a feedback upon receiving it.

I'm a married man with a child, all this is in the past. ;)))

Well... I strongly believe that this car won't be saved by any means, there is way to much of destruction. They sold this car within a day, I think someone bought it as a title. We got an importing scheme here that is cold a construction (or lego), if you have a title for a salvaged car you can import another one (same model) as a car chasis. Then you register chasis change and put a new VIN and other numbers on your title. When you import car that way you have to partially disassemble it: take out engine, take off wheels and etc. Once it was very popular with JDM cars in eastern part of Russia but now there are high import tax for chasis so it is usually make sense for expensive cars or the ones with big engines.

Will write about my progress a little bit later.

Ok. As I have told already I was in States for 3 weeks and not much was done during this period. But now I've made a big order for everything I need for my major with everything else I listed above. Upon receiving everything I think I will make a list of parts you need to do a major when you are not sure what was done before you. Also I ordered rear screen in UK it should be made by the mid of Feb. No work on car is done from the last post with pics.
Please see the picture of my seat. There is a separation of seatbelt bracket, I don't have any idea at the moment what can be done to it. Any thoughts?

I figured out that everyone loves stories so... Remember I wrote that I took my friend and flew to Vladivostok? I didn't mention one detail, my friend had just recovered from a broken basin at that time. ;)

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOgq3QrZ3qA[/ame]

So he moved around with crutches. I had to cut this video into pieces due to explicit language and moments when you can see his face but you can get an idea. ;) At that period they were preparing for the "2012 APEC Summit" in Vladivostok so were redoing all the roads and bridges. If you are interested what he said then he was saying that he hadn't seen any tarmac road yet. ;)

OFF: I don't think anyone like plain text posts and I don't have anything interesting to show you in my car. Here are some pics me having a driving experience at Daytona Beach. BTW I never thought that NASCAR so differed in physical feelings.

Finally pause in my project is over.
This boxes brought practically everything I need for now.
To all the parts I listed somewhere above I added:

    Engine mount x 2
    Gearbox mount x 2

    Rear screen (bespoke)
    Front screen frame + seal

    Wire set

    348 Front Suspension Bush Set S348FS : 1
    Torsion Bar Bracket 133802/348 : 4
    Steering Rubber Spacer Tube 108294 : 6
    355 track rod end 154300 : 2
    348 Rear Suspension Bush Set S348RS : 1
    Inner Bush (Roll Bar) 100985 : 2
Front and Rear Shock Absorber Bush 130516 : 4
Front and Rear Top Shock Absorber Mount 114812 : 4
    Top Ball Joint 35508015 : 2
    Lower Ball Joint 133944 : 2

Since I ordered parts from 4 different vendors I have to admit that Ricambi is the best of them. While some times not cheap, service is an A+.

Plan is like that: engine out, major while refinishing sub-frame and preparing body, suspension rebuild, everything back, respraying body and redoing interior.

No way. I'm just a kind of person that will spend some time researching and do everything in 5 minutes. ;)

I just took 8 laps since I had no idea about what I should expect. But now I'm seriously considering to take max amount of laps next time. To be honest I thought that NASCAR is a silly type of sport but there are some difficulties that I didn't expect.
