I noticed some of the front grills on a 348 have the horse emblem and some don't. I like it with the emblem. Do I need to buy a new front grill for my 348 or can I simply buy an emblem adapter kit?

    Hi Randy,

According to Keith Bluemel's Original Ferrari V8, on page 89, the Cavallino Rampante was applied to the front grill on the Spiders and Euro GTB/S, all in chrome.

However, lots of owners have added one to their earlier cars, with a matching one on the tail end as well. Both are the same size and in chrome instead of black.

Ricambi would be a great source if you wanted to add them to your car.

    Hi Wade,

Thanks for your reply. BTW, your old 348 is GREAT! I love it!

After more research, I notice the front emblem should be 75mm tall, while the rear is 113mm tall. Is that right?

The Ricambi diagrams are going to be a great resource in the future. Thanks!

The book says "identical front and rear". While it's known as one of the most accurate sources on technical info these cars, it does have a few glitches.

Maybe someone will chime in with some definitive information.

And yeah, Ricambi is a great resource for information as well.

    Enjoy!

    Wade,

BTW, I have the smog check tomorrow for your 348. Wish me luck... I hope it passes!

I was looking through the records and Carfax shows that it was previously registered in California. So the VIN should be in their database and you're sure to breeze through. :)

The part number for the front cavallino is 63603800 (No. 16 here: Ferrari 348 (2.7 Motronic) - Front Bumper: Page 124 | Order Online Eurospares ), and is 75mm tall.

The rear chrome cavallino is part number 63233900 which is 113mm tall.

You can fit the 113mm cavallino to the front of the car but TBH, it looks too big - The 75mm cavallino is more discreet and is the same size as the factory fitted badge on later cars.

The later cars have grilles with brackets welded onto them to mount the badge to, whereas the early cars grilles do not have the brackets, so to fit the badge you have to make a bracket or brackets to clamp the badge to the grille, such as seen here: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/348-355-sponsored-bradan/110425-mounting-front-horse-cavallino.html

Hope that's of some help! :)
