    does anyone out there in ferrari chat cyberspace know if the engine number stamped on the block matches the chassis number of the car? thanks........

    For early cars, the engine block was stamped with the chassis number when it was known into which engine the chassis would go.

    Prior to that point, the engine had its own internal number for tracking purposes.

    The numbers will match for cars up until sometime in the early 70s. At that point, production was high and matching numbers was less important.
