Did a search on 0858 within the past week before I posted. Wonder why that didn't come up. Maybe I just missed it. Sorry about the repost.
As the other thread mentions, it's a long way from original specifications, and needs some real heavy lifting to even be usable. What has been repaired, since it last changed hands?? More accurately the thread should be titled: "Ferrari 350 Can Am For Sale" Then this knowledgable crowd would know immediately, what you are talking about......
What is this 330 P4/Canam #6. Or is she, what year. never seen Quelle est cette 330 P4/Canam n°6. Ou se situe t-elle, quelle année. jamais vu
I think that's 0860 at Brands Hatch in 67 not 0858 which was race #9. That body is now on "0900". JS never drove 0858. 0858's Brands Tail is now on 0846.
I think that Bruno asked about this one. #0858 raced with n°6 in South Africa in 1969. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I've never seen that particular Canam variation from South Africa. Very interesting. I'll keep a look out for info on it.
The Factory unequivocally states that Chris Amon and Jackie Stewart drove 0858 to a 2nd OA finish at the 500-Mile Brands Hatch Race, held on 30 July 1967 (with n.gara 6).
Thanks Jim. I just meant I never seen it looking like that as #6. If anyone has other pictures from that race please post them. Each race had its share of unique modifications for each car and some of the features for this race in this picture have me captivated. This was the season for ugly airtubes.
The factory states a lot of stuff but the metal of 0858's tail which I now have mounted on 0846 clearly shows that it blew off of 0858 at Brands Hatch and it wasn't on the #6 but the #9 car. As a further aside the original Le Mans records that I have clearly show that the car swap that the factory says occurred between 0858 and 0856 at Le Mans in 67 would only be possible if the factory swapped both the chassis tags and also re stamped 0858 and 0856's engines.

I've traded emails with Talacrest about cars over the years, they were always cordial and professional. Perhaps it's just the holiday season.
On the site, they say they are using the body of 0860, yet it seems they are using the green P4 parts to take measures, and I'm pretty sure the green one is 0900... I'm officially confused.
The body of 0860 is on 0900 it seems. See the link. http://www.barchetta.cc/english/all.ferraris/detail/0860.330p4.htm
Laurent is in the process of building a model of 0858 in it's Team Gunston colors for me. The body is just about done. Paint color is done off a paintchip of the actual car. See pic. Sorry for going slightly off topic. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wasn't it stated in an earlier thread about these Can Am's that Classiche would not certify them as P4?
That's a very nice model. I looked at the Talacrest pictures of the rebody - Piper is in one of them, and lots of measuring going on and body profiles being made. I thought everybody used laser scans of bodies nowadays..........and why didn't they just ask Piper to get yet another body from Allegretti, or one from Shapecraft? Paul M
