What the factory called them and what the motorsport media called them is likely to be the reason for the unofficial B being added for ease of separation was I guess my key point. Thanks for your input Dyke, you are one of the few with direct knowledge of these cars.

    Cheers

the 330LMB has represented a great value over the years... all the big money has gone to the more popular and plentiful 250GTO... anyone lusting a 250GTO gets more car for a fraction of a GTO...

a lot of pre auction attention, now total silence... any information... did sale fizzle or are negotiations mute... silence generally indicates less than favorable outcome / embarasment

Lowell: The basic throttle linkage is correct, except they replaced the original ball and socket joints with Heim joints.

TBH, the car was being offered by private treaty so it was not an auction per se. The rub is that if it sold, certainly if it sold for a new record or whatever, Rick Cole would be publicizing it. Having said that Rick Cole even refused to tell their publicist what sold at their 2015 event so I wouldn't hold my breath....

They told me that they were asking $30 Million.
    Doubtful that it sold

what are they thinking by going silent..it is their featured car for this auction... the last sale ( it's been a while) of a 330LMB was at (guesstimate ) approx. half of current asking price... a large increase to digest ... one would think they would like to preserve all the marketing hype for the new higher value they can for a future sale whether this one sells or not at this time...

Are there many Private Treaty sales where the value is announced publicly? Any?

The current owner (movie/TV producer in L.A.) bought it for approx. 20 M $ in January 2016 from the German collector (who had bought it February 2011). No wonder nobody was interested now at 30 M $, just seven months later. A kool ten million more in just seven months? No way.

Talacrest sold GTO #3505GT and post sale announced the sales price ditto for the Bugatti Atlantic that Dave Gooding sold, both transactions occured in 2012 for around the $35 million US$ mark. I would assume that if both buyer and seller agree to something during the Private Treaty negotiations, that something could include allowing the intermediary to announce the sales price. If the vendor wanted a truly private sale, they could have used anyone of perhaps 10 dealers/ agents such as Talacrest, Kidston, Huni, Werner or Bill Kontes and completed the sale entirely in private. Based on Marcels latest post, there is a glaring reason why that didn't occur.

Or any of a number of individuals who do not officially broker car deals, yet have privately brokered nearly all of the biggest car deals.

Well that's surprising. I wonder what motivated the seller to accept a "considerable" loss after only seven months of ownership. And I have to say, the way this car was marketed and by whom seems rather odd to me.

The German owner owned it for about five years (2011-2016), and nearly doubled his investment. I don't believe it's been resold since early-2016 (i.e. at which time it was acquired by the current owner). For the avoidance of confusion, when I remarked that the sale price was considerably less than $20 million, I was referring to the sale price at which it was sold to the current owner earlier this year, etc.

Perhaps you're speaking about the consigner of 250 GT SWB Comp/60 #1759 GT which sold at 2016 Gooding Pebble Beach for $13.5 million all-in?

shows 330LMB still are a bargain vs the 250 GTO, 4 330 LM vs 39 250 GTO... there is more car for half the price... the exclusivity of only 4 examples vs 40, one would think would demand the greater price,

Perhaps your 330 LMB price value views are a bit skewed due to your decades-long involvement with (claim on) the "missing" 4619 SA?

I apologize, but still unclear to me.

Did the owner who sold the car through Rick Cole at Monterey this month accept a price that was less than the price he paid for it earlier this year?

The car DID NOT successfully sell earlier this month at Rick Cole in Monterey (whilst there under "Private Treaty").
