I noticed in the recent Cavallino that there are no production numbers for this model.
I did a search on Fchat, didn't come up with anything.
Anyone have any idea how many 330 2+2s are floating around out there?

Wow, I had no idea there were so few made. I wish people appreciated the Series I more.

I love the series 1, unfortunately I have a series 2; actually they look the same from the driver's seat (got to get mine put back together...)

By the way, considering they make an excellent parts source, the attrition rate is probably approaching 50%.

    Art S.

A question interesting to me is:

    How many are there now?

Anyone have an idea of approximately how many have survived this long?

    75% ???????

Numbers where the registry has some record in the last 10 years, so presumably still exist.

    Model Transmission Number Original
    330 America 4 spd 37 50
    330 GT 2 Headlight 5 spd 301 460
    330 GT 4 Headlight 4 spd 279 503
    330 GT 4 Headlight 5 spd 73 124

I think they are respected now. It wasn't long ago that no 330 GT was respected, but they have come into their own. The understated styling of the 330 has always been one of my favorites, even when I was pretty young (when I saw them selling in Auto Trader magazine for dirt cheap).

I do prefer the 2 headlight to the 4; however, I've seen a couple of Series 1 converted to Series 2 side vents and I thought those cars looked pretty amazing. I am not advocating that S1 vents be changed, just making an observation about the styling. I think the reason the S2 vents looked better (to me) is because there is so much brightwork (stainless/chrome) in the front of the 4-headlight and almost none on the side, so that the tiny bit of brightwork on the S2 side vents make it look a bit more cohesive. Of course, John Lennon's S1 had the side vents completely chromed, and that did not work at all to my eye, but the little trim on the S2 vents (and also the more open 3-fin design) seems to compliment the side and quarter view of the 4-headlight cars.

And if you go through Kerry's site by serial number you'll see just how many have been "re-functioned".
I'm biased, as you might guess from my avatar, but I always considered the series II a retrograde step in an effort to placate the more conservative clientele a car in this price range appealed to.
Tom Tjaarda had it right the first time around!

With the added % determined by Reverse Polish Logic.

Since you may not have all the "barn finds" or owner kept secret cars in your registry,
I believe that the survival % are a little bit higher.

And the % must very from country to country (car culture to car culture).

In the late 90's there was another chat group with one Italian, Aldo, participating.
He came over on a trip to Vancouver, BC, and we persuaded him to come down
to the East side of Lake Washington for an afternoon. We had a chinese lunch.
There were many very well kept up and shiny Ferraris in the parking lot. Most were
10 --- 20 year old 308's. Aldo could hardly believe his eyes seening that we had
kept such old Ferraris --- he said that in Italy many of these cars would be destroyed,
the others for the most part not so well taken care of.

I've always been a fan of "original concept". The idea of changing a design for a particular market doesn't fly with me. If they didn't believe in the four light version they wouldn't have built it.
The same thing happened with the vetrosina 308. They had right the first time.

So, you have a problem with Reverse Polish Logic?

Well. I took 9405 (67 330gt 2+2) completely apart to bare shell and put it all back together. Every nut and bolt. Engine rebuild was done by Tom Yang. paint and body by the Body shop Pat's dealership uses and interior by some local guys.

I not saying I'm 100% sure about how many are left. But I've heard its in the low 100s.

    Pat,

Congratulations! nice Job! I've got to get my butt in gear and get mine put back together.

That said, I think the survival rate is a little higher.

Here is a picture of legendary Brazilian musician Arnaldo Baptista and his neighbor's 330 GT 2+2 SII. Unfortunately I have no info on owner or S/N, but the car is in Brazil.
