On the Ricabmi website they list the 328 WP rebuild kit for about $320 which seems very high given what I have been told about kit prices and the fact that I can get a rebuilt pump for about $260 with a core exchange. Ricambi telsl me that is because it includes a seal No. 152051 which Ferrari sells for $300. Does this sound right?

    Thanks.

    Sounds high to me.

When I did a rebuild on a 308 pump, I got the parts from a Ferrari dealer.

It wasn't a kit, I bought the parts seperately. Bearings, seal, gaskets etc.

As I recall, all parts were under 90 bucks. That was about 3 yrs. ago.

When I bought the parts, I brought the WP along so they could match up the bearings.

The parts manager asked a tech to pull the bearings so he could see them.

When all parts were pulled, he said he'd put it back together for me.

When he was done, it took him about 15min., I asked him how much; he said, "Nuttin"!

    I gave him a $20 tip.

    Russ -

Thank you for your interest in this WP kit. The bulk of the kit price is in part 152051 as I mentioned in our email correspondance. The retail price from Ferrari on that item is nearly $300 alone.

Please see this thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=34538&page=2&highlight=152051 and http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/256120/184361.html for more information, and then determine how you'd like to proceed.

I'd love to be dead wrong on this kit and have a more competitive offering for you.

Really, I don't make this stuff up. :-(

Daniel. Appreciate your feedback and the good words others on this site have to say about Ricambi. However I just bought a rebuilt WP for my 328 that included the seal and other new innards for $50 less than your rebuild kit. I also note that Dennis McCann has the seal-search his site by part number-for $95 not $300. Your other parts prices seem to be competitive and you have a good reputation so I would not hesitate to do business with your company on other items. On the rebuild kit however I cannot see how you compete with the rebuilt pumps being cheaper than your kit!!

No worries. Hope everything works well and you're back on the road soon ! Although I don't want you to disassemble your new pump, I sure would like to see what parts are installed. If indeed it has the newest engineering revisions inside, then indeed, you'll be set.

    Kindly,
    Daniel

Need some more help now that my rebuilt water pump is on its way from Italian Car Parts.

    1. I am replacing the two rubber hoses that go into the housing. The ones that I removed seemed in good shape but thought I should replace them any way. Any tips on how to get the housing back onto the hoses?

    2. I also contemplate replacing the fabric covered hoses. Local hose supplier did not hav fabric covered ones but did have rubber over rubber hoses that he said would do the job. Any thoughts on this?

    3. When I put the housing back on should I put some sealant on the o-ring. NAPA recommended high temp RTV silicon.

    4. By the way NAPA had the thermostat gasket in stock.

    5. Should I put some sealant on the gasket between the WP and the housing.

    Thanks again.
