    Hi Guys,
I'm trying to find out if the AAV from a 308QV is compatible with the one from a 328..
    The Bosch part numbers are similar 0 280 140 104 for the QV and 0 280 140 168 for the 328.
The parts look the same physically,I know they both work the same as in they're both located under the expansion tank and are are in the open position when cold and gradually close as the expansion tank heats up which closes the sliding valve mechanism.
Do they both have 12 volts connected via the plug?
The reason I'm asking is that the QV part seems to be readily available but no such luck with the 328 part..
    Thanks,Maurice

If the mounting points fit and the connectors plug in, I would try it. The function seems ... so rudimentary.

    Maurice,

According to Bosch archive info, the difference between the two AAV’s is as follows:

    0 280 140 104 - Airflow 17 m3 / hour, heating coil 49 ohm
    0 280 140 168 - Airflow 20 m3 / hour, heating coil 40 ohm

Unfortunately for you the 0280140168 is a Ferrari only application, whereas the 0280140104 was very common and used by multiple OEM’s on many different vehicle applications.

I’d do some digging to try to find a correct unit rather than trying the 308QV unit.

    Good luck with it.

I would not think this needs to be an exact match. It only does anything during warmup and a slighly different airflow during warmup is not going to matter.

The AAV fitted to the Euro cars are much smaller than US cars anyway so this shows how uncritical it is, presumably US are larger for higher idle and faster cat warmup. Its probably better with a slower cold idle anyway from POV of engine wear so the commonly available one would be better.

Thanks Andy,I might get one and try it..they're readily available and for alot cheaper than the 328 one, plus here in Sydney winters are warmer than European winters so I'm guessing the engine would warm quicker than the one it was designed for..
I'll report back with my findings when I get it..

Maurice, there's a place in California that rebuilds your old aux air valves to new condition again if you're interested? Here's their website.

Hi guys just a follow up update on this,
So I ended up purchasing a new Bosch 0 280 140 104 valve from fellow Fchatter Greg (Owens84QV) and fitted it yesterday..
The fitment is exactly the same as the original one and it works perfectly..it has cured my low idle/ stalling on start up as well.
Idle now is at 1100 rpm on start up and drops down to 950-1000 rpm as the car warms up..
So for those of you that have a Euro 328,this part is a direct, cheaper and readily available part..
Thanks to all that chimed in..

Recycling old post. I am in process of rebuilding Injection system 308 GTSi and I found this guide on the different Aux Air Valves. Different engines require different air flows and heat up times.
