    Does anyone have some tricks to cleaning and maybe even re-gluing the fabric on the targa top? Mine is about 85% good but is soiled around the latches, at the drivers head and some edges. I think it would not be good to soak the fabric too much as it might attack the remaining bonding adhesive.

    The fabric is pulling away in some spots but holding elsewhere fine. Is there maybe some syringe type method of re-gluing through the fabric? If so, what kind of glue would work?

    Is there some sort of powdery dry cleaning product that would work?

    Carpet cleaner?

    The black/white strip fabric is unobtainium. I have some leftover scraps you're welcome to, it is not enough to do the headiner but maybe could be stitched in over your dirty part around the latches.

    Bob, my GF bought one the hand held steam cleaner that could be use for like drapes, sofas, upholstery, and even clothes.

    I was just thinking that maybe this will work, instead of buying one maybe you can rent one, what do you think?

    Ok, I got the targa fabric around the latch holes cleaned by basically using carpet cleaner and a soft dry scrub brush. First, I vacuumed as much dirt off as possible. Then I sprayed on the carpet cleaner but did not get it too wet and let it sit for 30 min. Then dry brushed it and vacuumed it again while holding the vac against it. I followed up the entire roof with a damp simple green/water cloth and then dry toweled it. It's about 97% better now. See previous post in this thread for the "before" pics. Now I have to figure out how to glue down the sagging spots without pulling the whole thing apart!

    I'll still take them Duane if you send them and do not need them yourself. I will cover the torn bald spots at the 4 corners (two are in the picture) with it. But yes, it is much better now.

    Just out of curiosity, does anyone know when the color switch over took place? My 84 has the brown/tan look, not black/white. (And before someone says 84, I meant the earlier colors!)

    Black interiors got black/white stripe. Tan and brown got the brown/white stripe. Red interiors got either the black/white or red/white. Any other colors, I don't know but I've seen all of these combos myself.

    I have the red interior and I got brown/white (looks tan, must be dirt!). Red/white would look cool though!

    Haven't seen a red with the brown/white. You're lucky though, that fabric is readily available, the black/white isn't and I imagine the red/white is unobtanium.

    I only saw one car with the red/white material, it looked pretty good.

    The guys at Reoriginals say they have all the colors available. <http://www.reoriginals.com/> Out of curiosity, were the targa top colors an item that could be specified at order time?

    I saw Matt at Cavallino, he told me I bought the last black/white he had and that was available anywhere, the company they got it from didn't want to make it anymore.

    Why would you care the condition of your Targa Top?

    I have had mine on twice, once when I trailored it home, the second time was to trailor it to Rutlands for last years bar-b-cue.

    I am afraid to drive the car in the rain, if it got any smaller I wouldn't fit!

    I'm more interested in the back cloth, but hey, if you are going to do one, then might as well do the other.

    BTW, mine doesn't appear to be brown and white but brown and beige as below. So, were the QVs actually all brown and beige? Or could you order what you wanted at time or purchase? Anyone know?
