Anybody ever have their 308 parking brake handle light go out? Mine did, and I'm wondering where I can get a new bulb. Seems like an odd size/color....

    TIA,
    Greg

I called T. Rutlands for one last year and they said they couldn't get it anymore. I would LOVE to know a part number so I could get one locally. I'm sure it's available. Mine is completely missing so I don't even have a dead one to take to NAPA and ask them to hunt around.

If anyone even has a picture of the correct bulb, please post!

I'll bet Ferrari UK has them, and I have been meaning to get one with my next order, but it seems silly to order a lightbulb all by itself from the UK!!

I just took it in and they matched it. It was a sylvenia (spelled wrong) I remember that. It was a couple of years ago.

There are some threads on this in the archives. I remember there being full information on part numbers and where to find them.

    Birdman,
Steven bought one a while back, find thread.
He didn't like the green color, so scraped it off. Suspect lacquer thinner would strip it just fine also.

Think he got it from your friend Dennis McCann...

We have said green bulbs in stock Ferrari # 40143307, I would have thought your local auto supplies store would keep them, certainly your nearest Ferrari dealer should have them. It would cost more to post than the cost of the bulb!

    Malcolm,
If I took a head count of people that wanted them and ordered 5-10 of them can you ship cheap/slow?

    Best,

While on the subject of the handbrake light, can anyone post a picture of how/where the handbrake-switch assy fits? For some odd reason the PO has removed mine - I only have the loose wire tucked under the carpet. Looking at the Parts Manual I see that I'm missing the switch & bracket. I will order these bits, but where exactly does it bolt to & what part of the handbrake mech does the switch plunger make contact against?

ps: I can't believe the whole bracket, switch & fittings only total about $2. There must be some mistake - surely they mean $1000??? I mean it's a FERRARI handbrake, after all. :)

Well since you're the first person to EVER look at those parts on their website, it hasn't been price adjusted since 1976! I'm sure it will be straightened out before you order. ;)

Underside of brake handle, between the black handle, and base....there is a small green bulb installed and wired to your dash lights.

    Jonathan,

We only have seven bulbs in stock and they are no longer available at the factory. They cost $2.80 each plus shipping, so your idea is best, I could mail all seven to yourself and then you could distribute to whoever is on your "list". If you want a shipping quote send me a PM with your full address and I will give you a cost.

I just PM'd Malcolm and asked to buy all 7 of the bulbs. I'll form a list of people who need them. When I get them, I'll get info from you guys and ship them out.

The part number is 40143307, with a MSRP of $3.50. Maranello Auto Parts only has 8 of them in stock. If you are looking in the part book for them, do not use logic and look at the handbrake handle. Look in the coachwork section where the center console is shown (Tav.112, item #8 in a 1978 308GTB/GTS parts book).

Why not just take the bulb out and go to Napa, pep boys, or autozone rather then go through all this drama of getting them from Europe or a dealer? It worked for me.

I agree that this is a bit of a drama, but.....

Does the local parts store have the bulb w/ the greenish tint to it? I haven't found that one locally....
