Can anyone point me to where i can figure out how many Prugna 308 QVs were made? In particular, how many were built in 1985 with a tan interior. I keep getting the question because of the rarity of the color and i have tried searching but not able to find anything at that granular level. Appreciate the help.

Yes its a very rare color and it should increase the value greatly.

As said/written many, many, many times (= "Ad nauseam") this information is simply not available; and certainly less so by year of production.
Should you find a number, it would be impossible to cross-check; and the source is usually impossible to verify. Your best bet would be that the importer has kept the figure of how many were delivered in the US.
That being said, you are not taking many chances with "not much", certainly "about a dozen" for the QVs imported in the US, about 30 worldwide.

So, 4049 QVs were produced - out of which no more than 30 were probably Prugna with 12 out of those destined for the US. There are other ways to show the rarity but i think that should be fine for the next time someone asks the question.

Would you be so kind as to post the source of this information that brought you to this conclusion?

    Not 4049: 3790 QVs
Breakdown: GTSs = 3042 (2809 Left Hand Drive / 233 Right Hand Drive) about 40 to 45% of all GTS QVs were for the US market (figures are between 1350 and 1500)
GTBs = 748 (674 LHD / 74 RHD) the US market production is not yet precisely agreed upon, but is a low number, it should be about "more or less" 52.

That's correct, but I cannot confirm the 308 GTB QV for the USA market: I don't know.

What I know is that in 1980, an incredible 73% of the 308 GTSi entire Ferrari production (LHD+RHD) were sold in the USA market: an impressive figure, 1250 units, 50% of Ferrari entire cars production of that year.

That's taken from my book, that is based on official Ferrari figures of the age.

    ciao

It's been my experience the reason that things are ordered in small numbers is because it was/is not popular, when no additional expense is required.

Tastes do change, but I have never heard of Prugna being a color people must have. If the car is in outstanding condition and it is Prugna, it could attract more buyers who can live with it and want the best car. I have bought cars in a color which was not my first choice, but condition was the determining factor.

Alberto, those numbers you quote are quite telling. Consider how many cars Ferrari produces today. Even though the 308 was the big "production" model of it's day, it is actually becoming a rare car, with almost as many 488's produced already as there were ever 308's. Good 308's (and 208T's !!) will continue to become a rare and desirable machine for any collection.

100% agree. All the 308 dry sump produced (glass, steel, LHD, RHD) are around 1700 units in five years of production. Today we have "limited" productions of 799 units!

My 1984 GTS QV *was* originally prugna... I’m the second owner of the car, and the previous owner told me that they had special ordered it, then hated it when they saw it and had the dealer take apart the car and have it painted red.

I haven't seem a 84 Prugna. So far they were all 85. May be it was a late 84 and stamped as a 85. Do you have the Vin?

Ok I have a friend who lives in Downey, CA who own an 85 QV US in Prugna S/N 58157 he only drove it twice in the last 10 years.
I feel so bad about his car because it’s just rotting away in his garage. I think he wants to sell it but ill ask him. Also, I remember seeing two 308 QV Prugna at Beverly Car Club in LA about five years ago but I didn’t get the S/N.
