Forgot to add that on a K-Jet with Lambda system like yours, the Frequency Valve (FV) also adds some enrichment during cold-running = you should make sure that the FV is always buzzing/vibrating whenever the engine is running. Like a WUR issue being masked by the system being tweaked up when warm, a FV not working problem can also be masked so that warm-running is OKish, but cold-runing won't be right. (A FV not working problem is almost always due to a not working protection relay, not a bad FV.)

Hi. I have ordered some thermal paste as well as a fuel pressure testing kit from amazon.

thorn - can you share details of the relay ? I ordered all my bulbs from super bright LEDs and they said I had to go with the resistor......

    Thank you Kevin !

thank you Thorn. I have ordered the relay. This is exciting as I wasn’t happy with the resistor setup, so I am hopefully I can get rid of all of that......

Took the car out for a spin around the lanes and got her up to 70mph. Other than the fuel injection and alignment I am hopefully that I am close to done......so I enlisted the family for help and put the rear deck lid back on.

I did do both, but only the the picture of the left one. I can say that the electric windows are better now. I wish I had timed them before the work.....

The same Bosch pressure regulator is used on the r107 mercedes and a Rolls from that era. All discontinued by Bosch. However, if you can live with a Mercedes part on a Ferrari. Mercedes classic can still get them. The part number is 0000780592. Runs about $250. Standard motor products makes an aftermarket with part number FPD50. It runs about $115 from summitracing.com, but is currently on back order with no ETA.

After several months of working on more wife friendly projects, I finally got back to the 308 yesterday. I bought this fuel pressure testing kit from Amazon which is supposed to be compatible with CIS systems.....

also I gave chapter D of the mondial manual a good read before venturing out in the cold.....

From the reading I have done, you hook up the tester to the fuel line going from the fuel distributor to the WUR. All the little attachments in the kit allow you to find the right fitting.

in my case it is this line in the center. It is a tight fit and I needed to undo the two adjacent lines to do this....

It would have been a lot easier doing this at the WUR end....but the manual did say to do it at the dual distributor so I did.....

The tester has a valve on the WUR side. If you shut this off (I.e the WUR is now disconnected) this will give system pressure. With it open you can measure cold (or warm) pressure.

So. Here are the results !!

With the electrical connections to the WUR, aux air, safety switch disconnected (I also disconnected the freq valve ) and the ignition on, I measured 5.0 bar of pressure. This is good !

opening the valve of the tester to get the “cold” reading I also got 5.0 bar. Hmmm. Not so good. I think this would conclude that the WUR is blocked. (Another word for broken!)

more good news is that the residual pressure after shutting off the ignition held at around 3 bar for 20 mins. So there is nothing wrong with the primary fuel circuit. (No big surprise given it’s a new fuel pump / accumulator / filter).

the electrical connection at the aux air device had a nice 12v but the connection at the WUR had no volts. I also did a quick test, with the help of my daughter, of the cold start valve electrical connection with the ignition cranking. This also had zero volts.

I am not too concerned about the wiring. This is going to be the main loom plug which I haven’t “finished” upgrading to the gold kit. This I can fix.

yesterday afternoon I took the stupid WUR of the engine. Now I need to decide to send it for repairs or try it myself.......

On some models there is a fine gauze screen on the WUR inlet so you may want to check it is not blocked (if you have one).
