I just bought a 75 308gt4 and want to upgrade (upsize) the wheels/tires from the stock 14". Does anyone have any ideas (hopefully based on experience) about max. size, width etc. and where one might find appropriatly sized wheels?

All new 308GT4 owners are required by statute to display images of their car here to allow the "GT4 section" to compliment on your good taste in cars....!

Obvious choice is to move up to 16" (7" front, 8" rear) with either original Ferrari QV 5 spokes (expensive), replica 5 spokes (very reasonably priced from Superformance in the UK) or pre-ABS 328 5 spokes(cheaper from Ferrari UK than the 308 QV style). There have been quite a few threads on this topic so a search will yield lots of views and pictures.

Congratulations on your new GT4. I'll second the request for some photos...

I went with the 328 wheel upgrade. I really prefer the look of the 328 wheel on the GT4 over the 16" 308 wheel. The only downside to fitting the 328 wheel is that the spindle needs to be modified to get the front wheels to fit (rear's fit right on). Not a difficult job to do, but I wound up getting my mechanic to do it for a couple hundred dollars. Well worth it in my opinion.

Here is a link to the thread where I originally brought it up, and it has a good description of how to go about fitting the wheels.

Congrats! Yellow is a great color for the GT4, mine is all yellow without the boxer trim. I've got MOMO 16" rims which really fill in the wheel well. What's your VIN #? Mine is 10636 let's see how close all our cars are.

Those modern wheels, black window trim and boxer paint scheme make the GT4 look pleasingly modern. I like it...despite being a bit of a traditionalist!

Actually, I'm normally a traditionalist too, but since it was my track car I was comfortable with the subtle changes. I also had a nice "chairs & flares" 246 GTS at the time, and wouldn't have modified it from stock at all, but with a track car I think that's another story.
